Treat yourself with the Agnocasto

Botanical Name: Vitex agnus-castus L

Part used: Agnocasto fruits

Therapeutic properties: antispasmodic, tonic, hormonal (progestin and antiestrogenic action)

Therapeutic use:

progestin failure; pelvic pain; premenstrual syndrome (hyperfollicular); menorrhagia and metrorrhagia; mastodynia (breast pain);

NOTES: when the agnocasto is taken for curative purposes it is essential to use defined and standardized pharmaceutical forms in active ingredients (in iridoid glycosides such as aucubine and agnuside ), the only ones that let you know how many active molecules are being given to the patient. Traditional herbal preparations such as infusions, juices and decoctions, do not allow to establish exactly the quantity of active ingredients administered to the patient, which increases the risk of therapeutic failure.

Agnocasto: traditional herbalist indications

Relieve the minor symptoms that accompany the days before menstruation (premenstrual syndrome)

Indicative dosage in adults (oral):

If the agnocasto is taken in the form of dried drug powder
- take a single dose of 30-50 mg once a day
If the agnocasto is taken in the form of dye (ratio solvent drug 1: 5; solvent ethanol 58-60% m / m)
- take a single dose of 40 drops once a day
If the agnocasto is taken as a tincture (drug solvent ratio 1: 5; ethanol solvent 70% v / v)
- take a single dose of 30-40 drops once a day, corresponding approximately to 33 mg of dried drug
If the agnocasto is taken as a dry extract (extraction ratio 7-13: 1; solvent ethanol 60% m / m)
- take a single dose of 4 mg of dry extract, corresponding to 28-52 mg of dried drug
If the agnocasto is taken as a dry extract (extraction ratio 10.0-18.5: 1; ethanol solvent 50-52% m / m)
- take a single dose of 2-3 mg of dry extract, corresponding to 30-48 mg of dried drug

NOTES: Agnocasto extracts are NOT suitable for children and adolescents under the age of 18. As a precautionary measure, do not take during pregnancy and lactation.

If the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome:

they get worse during treatment
or if they do not diminish during the first four days after the start of the period
or if they recur before the thirteenth day of the menstrual cycle
or if they persist after continued use of the product for three therapeutic cycles,

consult your doctor.

They are contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity towards one or more pharmacologically active substances contained in the extract. Side effects include episodes of:

severe allergic reactions with swelling of the face, dyspnea and difficulty swallowing;
skin reactions with widespread redness, hives, itching
headache, dizziness
gastrointestinal problems (such as nausea and abdominal pain)
acne
menstrual disorders

If these side effects occur seriously, or if other side effects occur, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Patients taking dopamine, agonist or estrogen antagonist therapy are advised to take Agnocasto based products only after obtaining medical approval. Even patients who are in treatment, or have been in the past, for breast cancer or other types of estrogen-sensitive tumors, should take Cimicifuga Racemosa extracts only after consulting their doctor.

Since the agnocasto appears to exert its therapeutic activity by interfering with the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, patients with a history of pituitary disease should consult their doctor before use. In the case of prolactin-secreting pituitary tumors, taking Agnocasto may mask the symptoms of the tumor.
