Indications PILUS ® Finasteride

PILUS ® is used in the treatment of early states of androgenetic alopecia in male patients.

Mechanism of action PILUS ® Finasteride

Finasteride, active ingredient of PILUS ®, is a particularly effective molecule in the treatment of baldness and in particular androgenetic alopecia, thanks to its typical mechanism of action oriented to the control of miniaturization of the hair follicle generally supported by androgenic hormones such as dihydrotestosteroine .

More precisely, Finasteride is able to inhibit the enzymatic transformation of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, by blocking the activity of the 5 alpha reductase enzyme expressed at the level of the hair bulb.

In a few weeks, this mechanism determines the blockage of the processes of miniaturization and fall and a recovery of growth, limited however to the treatment period.

From the pharmacokinetic point of view, on the other hand, the Finasteride taken orally and absorbed from the gastro-enteric tract, after carrying out its biological activity and having been metabolized to the liver level, is eliminated through feces and urine.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

PROTECTIVE FUNCTION OF THE FINASTERIDE ON PROSTATE CANCER

N Engl J Med. 2013 Aug 15; 369 (7): 603-10. doi: 10.1056 / NEJMoa1215932.

Very interesting study published in one of the most important trade magazines that shows how Finasteride can significantly reduce the risk of death in patients with severe prostate cancer.

THE FINASTERIDE IN THE TREATMENT OF ANDROGENETIC ALOPECIA IN WOMEN

Int J Trichology. 2013 Jan; 5 (1): 22-5. doi: 10.4103 / 0974-7753.114709.

Study that evaluates the efficacy of Finasteride in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in post-menopausal women without laboratory or clinical signs of hyperandrogenism.

FINASTERIDE INFERTILITY

Int Urol Nephrol. 2013 Feb; 45 (1): 83-5. doi: 10.1007 / s11255-012-0315-9. Epub 2012 Oct 16.

Clinical case demonstrating the appearance of infertility secondary to prolonged use even at low doses of Finasteride, in a 40-year-old patient with androgentical alopecia. The observed damage mainly affected the DNA of spermatozoa subjected to fragmentation.

Warnings PILUS ® Finasteride

Note the biological activity of the drug and its pharmacokinetic properties, PILUS ® therapy should be carefully supervised in patients with liver disease or infertility problems given the potential side effects.

The patient should also know that the effects of Finasteride are transient, ie related to the treatment period, and not immediate, generally requiring 2-3 months before a visible improvement.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The use of FOLIANS ® is strictly contraindicated in case of pregnancy or in the subsequent period of breastfeeding, given the importance of dihydrotestosterone in the development of the genital apparatus of the unborn child.

Interactions

Once the hepatic metabolism of Finasteride is known, it should be remembered that the simultaneous intake of potential inducers or inhibitors of the cytochromial system may alter the normal pharmacokinetic properties of the aforementioned active principle.

Contraindications PILUS ® Finasteride

The use of PILUS ® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active substance or to one of its excipients and in women.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The use of PILUS ®, could determine the appearance of hypertransaminasemia, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, changes in the volume and quality of the ejaculate and even more rarely of adverse reactions from hypersensitivity.
