Indications SCALPICIN ® Hydrocortisone

SCALPICIN ® is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of minor dermatological conditions such as itching, irritation and erythema.

Mechanism of action SCALPICIN ® Hydrocortisone

SCALPICIN ® is a drug based on Hydrocortisone, a synthetic corticosteroid widely used in the clinical setting to treat itchy and irritated skin.

In fact, applied topically, it performs its therapeutic action mainly at the local level, effectively controlling the symptoms complained of by:

  • inhibition of recruitment and activation of immune cells such as mast cells, responsible for the typical itchy symptoms;
  • the inhibition of the synthesis of inflammatory cytokines involved in the genesis of the inflammatory process, through the direct control of their cellular expression;
  • the stabilization of lysosomal membranes and therefore the relative release of proteolytic enzymes.

All this is realized in the effective control of the symptomatology and in particular in the reduction of the edema, in the reduction of the itching and in the significant improvement of the quality of the affected skin.

The modest amount of hydrocortisone absorbed systemically will go against the classic hepatic metabolic processes and the consequent renal excretion.

Pediatr Dermatol. 2013 Apr 22. doi: 10.1111 / pde.12118. [Epub ahead of print]

Work that demonstrates the emollient efficacy to antidermatitis of human maternal milk, comparing its activity to that of 1% hydrocortisone in the treatment of dermatitis of small patients.

contact dermatitis ASSOCIATED WITH HYDROCORTISON-BASED CREAMS

Dermatitis. 2013 Jul-Aug; 24 (4): 196-7. doi: 10.1097 / DER.0b013e3182910430.

Clinical case that reveals the appearance of severe contact dermatitis with important effects also at the systemic level following the application of a cream based on hydrocortisone and cliokinol, reaffirming the importance of medical supervision during the entire treatment.
