O-phenyl-phenol is a synthetic preservative, formed from phenyl ether. It looks like a white powder, insoluble in water, used mainly against the fungi of the genus Penicillium, found mainly in citrus fruits, apples and pears, but also on plums, pineapples, cherries, etc. Penetrating into the skin, traces of O-Phenyl-Phenol could be present inside the fruit.
O-phenyl-phenol is a compound that is excreted by the kidneys without being modified.
