Indications MECLODERM ® Meclociclina

MECLODERM ® is indicated in the treatment of skin infections sustained by sensitive microorganisms, including those involved in the pathogenesis of acne.

Mechanism of action MECLODERM ® Meclociclina

Meclociclina, active ingredient of MECLODERM ®, is a tetracycline with a broad spectrum of action, including microorganisms such as Proprionibacterium acnes, involved in the pathogenesis of vulgar acne.

The classical mechanism of action, which is carried out through the inhibition of the 30S ribosomal subunit and therefore with the total block of the elongation of the nascent peptide chain, compromises the vital and replicative capacities of the microorganism, determining its death as well as the proliferative block.

The intense bactericidal activity is associated with the excellent pharmacokinetic properties, which allow the topically applied drug to persist at the skin level, considerably limiting the systemic absorption of the same, so as not to represent a clinically relevant factor.

All this makes it possible to considerably limit the classic side effects linked to antibiotic therapy, while maintaining an excellent efficacy of action.

MECLOCYCLINE / BENZOYL PEROXIDE IN THE TREATMENT OF ACNE

Acta Derm Venereol. 1991; 71 (2): 175-8.

Clinical trial conducted on over 100 acne patients demonstrating that the combined treatment with meclocicline / benzoyl peroxide may be more effective for the treatment of acne than monotherapies.

MECLOCYCLINE AND FLAMMED ACNE

Z Hautkr. 1984 Dec 1; 59 (23): 1623-34.

Outdated work that demonstrated the clinical efficacy of Meclociclina in the treatment of acne characterized by inflamed papulo-pustular lesions.

MECLOCYCLINE: a valid alternative to oral antibiotics

Acta Derm Venereol. 1984; 64 (4): 354-7.

Study that demonstrates the clinical efficacy of Meclociclina in the treatment of acne vulgaris, replacing with dignity oral antibiotic therapies, and thus limiting the incidence of typical side effects.
