Where are the ticks?

The ticks prefer to live in the grass, in the bushes and in the shaded and damp wooded environments, where they remain hidden waiting for the passage of the host to be parasitized (wild or domestic animals and, occasionally, humans). These insects can find environments where they can survive even in cities (for example, in untilled meadows or among the dry leaves of gardens).

In Italy, ticks are found mainly in Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige and in many rural areas. The risk of meeting them is greater for lovers of trekking, the countryside and the woods, especially from April to October: the insect stubbornly sticks to clothes, then passes to the skin to start a blood meal.
