Polyglycerol polyricinoleate is a combination of polyglycerol and castor oil (oil obtained from the Ricinus sp. Plant).
Fats can be either of vegetable or animal origin.
These food additives are used, in various products, above all for their emulsifying and stabilizing function.
They can be contained in different foods, such as in bakery products, in various chocolate snacks, in low-calorie foods, in chocolate, in spreads, etc.
There may be a risk, in predisposed subjects, of the onset of allergies, but still there are contradictory opinions.
At the moment there are no known negative side effects for human health deriving from the consumption of food products added with polyglycerol polyricinoleate.
Dose ADI: 7.5 mg per kg of body weight.
