The incidence of traveler 's diarrhea varies according to different destinations and depends, more particularly, on the characteristics of the territory, seasonal trends (eg rainy seasons or presence of monsoons) and attention to hygiene.

As for the geographical distribution, we can schematically distinguish 3 areas:

Other risk areas : South and Central America, Asia (most) and Africa.

Intermediate risk areas : Europe (southern and Mediterranean basin).

Low-risk areas : North America, Northern and Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
