E527 AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE

Ammonium hydroxide, otherwise known as ammonium hydrate, is an additive derived from ammonia gas. It appears as a clear, colorless solution with a characteristic very pungent odor.

Mainly, it has the function of an acidity regulator of synthetic origin (it is a strong alkalizing agent). It is also used in the production of caramel.

It is used in various products and in particular, in small doses, is used in certain types of chocolate, chocolate flavored milk, jelly and more.

If taken in high doses, it could cause skin reactions, digestive and blood disorders.
