Obesity and Personal Trainer

Obesity is an important metabolic disorder and it is estimated that 1 in 5 is obese. It has also been established that 97% of the obese have no problem whatsoever, if not related to eating disorders and a sedentary lifestyle; therefore a correct diet and a constant physical activity are the most effective remedies. Such a serious weight gain, however, leads to an excessive accumulation of adipose tissue, with an increase in circulating lipoproteins that go to form atherosclerotic plaques; this results in impaired cardio-circulatory activity and an increase in blood pressure, not to mention the repercussions of excessive weight on the skeleton and joints, and again, motor difficulties, constant risks of injuries and difficulty in relating to others for a not accepting one's own aesthetic.

In the United States, 67% of men and 62% of women are overweight or obese, and the prevalence of obesity has increased by 62% among men and 52% among women between 1976 and 1980 and 1988 -1994. Subsequently, there was an increase of 34% of men and 32% of women between 1988-1994 and 1999-2000. Obviously, the data showed more or less the same incidence also for Europe. The most worrying thing comes from another study that has shown that since 1980 the increase in obesity has also frightened children between 6 and 11 years, like adolescents between 12 and 19 years.

So if we were to have an obese customer, how do we realize if we can train him? Let's imagine that the subject has the right requirements! We are faced with the following case: years = 34, Fcmax = 186 bpm, HRR = 90 bpm, 60% Fcmax = 112 bpm; as you have certainly noticed, the difference between resting heartbeats and initial training (proposed in the safety percentage) is really low; this means that the customer, as soon as he starts to walk or to raise an arm, will immediately reach the frequency established by us for training: therefore if he will raise both arms and maybe walk at the same time he will surely find himself with a considerably higher frequency. What to do then? Here comes the professionalism of the personal trainer and hence the need to have a background of information that makes our preparation unexceptionable and of a high level: ordinary people are our best customers and the first step to approach is to communicate through the language of competence, because these people must be sure of finding their own personal trainers on their way and not hoping, as often happens, if you are lucky, to meet the right personal trainer ...
