Set up your own private gym!

If you have chosen to practice home fitness, you should ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are my goals and what equipment and services do I need to reach them?
  • How much am I willing to spend on my well-being?
  • How much space do I have?

What are my goals and what equipment and services do I need to reach them?

The analysis of one's own goals represents the first step to be taken in order to rationalize one's own domestic gym. For example, a marathon runner who wants to train at home on rainy days will inevitably have to choose a professional treadmill, while Mrs. Maria, who wants to lose a few pounds by taking advantage of the comforts that her home offers, will be able to choose simpler and cheaper equipment.

The choice of services is also important. You can decide to make use of the constant presence of a personal trainer, of his periodic consultation, or if you have the necessary knowledge you can do your training in total autonomy.

How much am I willing to spend on my well-being?

"Health is the most important asset", "Money does not give happiness", well, despite the profound truthfulness of these statements one of the most frequent objections is precisely to say: "I don't do it because it costs too much".

During the sales, people run to the shops in search of the bargain, you see them come out happy, convinced that they spent 200 € well for a white cotton t-shirt with a print by the trendy designer. And then we are told by the same people that four hours a month of personal training at home for the total price of 160 € are too expensive. How much does it cost you to go to the physiotherapist to do a 10 minute iontophoresis?

Is a cotton shirt really worth more than your health and well-being?

Today the market offers a wide range of products for home fitness starting from the classic benches and steps to reach the latest generation tools massively advertised by the media.

Remember that price and quality most often grow together. Always ask for a guarantee on the product and if you have the opportunity, ask your personal trainer for an opinion.

How much space do I have?

In many cases, space represents the most difficult obstacle to overcome in order to successfully set up your own "home gym". Fortunately, various types of tools are now available on the market that can be easily stored after use. However in many cases the quality of the equipment goes hand in hand with the space, it is indeed difficult to set up a professional gym in small spaces.

It is also important to check every detail, such as the aesthetics and harmony of the tool with the style of the room, the presence of electrical outlets in the vicinity (if the use of electric current is necessary), the flooring and its tightness (a professional treadmill can exceed 150 kg in weight).

If you are going to buy free weights, prefer the rubberized ones, or buy mats to protect your floor.

We have created for you three examples of medium-sized gyms (6 square meters) based on your fitness level.
