Definition

The liver is a fairly rare but very aggressive cancer. More common are liver metastases of tumors developed in other sites (such as colon, lungs and breast). The high mortality rate is linked to the general absence of symptoms in the initial stages (not by chance it is known as silent tumor), and to the ineffectiveness of the treatments (anyway capable of improving the quality of life). The good news is that liver cancer can be prevented by limiting alcohol consumption and avoiding unprotected sex with people at risk.
