Brush

Chewable toothbrush

Even when traveling, in the office, outside the home or in any other place where toothpaste and toothbrushes cannot be used, it is important to ensure that the teeth are clean.

For this reason, a new, very special, brushing method has been devised to be used (it is good to specify it again) only when it is not possible to brush teeth with toothpaste and toothbrush. The new tool for oral hygiene is the disposable chewable toothbrush, a real toothbrush enriched with self-cleaning crystals of xylitol to chew as a normal chewing gum. The toothbrush should not be swallowed and should be thrown away after use.

The simple chewing gum, embellished with xylitol and fluorine, is instead a discreet support for daily dental hygiene (not an alternative). The chewable confetti, in fact, encourage the remineralization of the teeth, protect them from external aggressions and favor the increase of salivation (thus constituting a sort of protection from the attack of bacteria).

Anti-plaque pastigliette

Anti-plaque pastigliette are a valid tool to check whether tooth brushing is satisfactory or not. After cleaning the teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste, the pastiglietta must be chewed for a minute; then, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. If the teeth have not been cleaned properly, any deposits on the teeth (not eliminated by brushing) will be highlighted in blue ("old plaque" index, at least one week) or in red ("new plaque", formed in the last 24 hours).

  • Anti-plaque pastilles are NOT effective for cleaning teeth, rather they are a valid aid in ascertaining whether the basic rules for correct oral hygiene are correctly applied or not.

Silver head brush

Some brush heads are provided with a thin silver foil which, in contact with water, releases active ions capable of "purifying" the bristles. The bacteria, in fact, can nestle between the bristles of the toothbrush, waiting for the opportune moment to re-attach the dental enamel in the subsequent brushing. Silver ions kill the pathogens hidden in the toothbrush head.

Brush with whitening head

Some toothbrushes can help teeth whitening thanks to a soft rubber blade inserted between the bristles. Precisely, this latex sheet - which contains microgranules inside it - adheres to the teeth, polishing them every time brushing is performed.

Tricks and tips

  • The use of the toothbrush alone, even if flawless, is not enough to clean the teeth thoroughly. The mechanical brushing of the toothbrush must in fact be supported by the synergic action of a specific toothpaste for the type of teeth (eg sensitive teeth, milk teeth) or for the needs of the subject. For example, yellow teeth can be brushed with the help of specific toothpastes, prepared with whitening products such as sage or baking soda. Furthermore, sensitive teeth require the use of a soft-bristle toothbrush and a fluoride-based toothpaste. Even the deciduous teeth require toothpastes with mineralizing action.
  • Furthermore, in addition to the simultaneous use of toothpaste and toothbrush, the teeth require a deeper cleaning: only rarely, the bristles of the toothbrush can remove the micro-residues of food set between tooth and tooth. To this end, dental floss promotes optimal dental hygiene. Finally, the use of mouthwashes with disinfectant, astringent or remineralizing action effectively completes the cleaning of the oral cavity.
  • A well used toothbrush should be changed at least every two to three months (or until the bristles open and are visibly bent outwards). If, after 3 months, the bristles of the toothbrush are still in good condition, it means that the teeth have not been cleaned properly.
  • In place of the manual toothbrush, the electric toothbrush is an excellent alternative. This instrument excels in terms of ease of use and the (extraordinary) effectiveness in removing food residues and bacterial plaque deposited on teeth or gums.
  • Gently brush the gum line
  • The manual toothbrush is not necessary to reduce the risk of dental infections: every 6-12 months, it is recommended, in fact, to undergo professional dental cleaning (scaling), the only therapeutic procedure indicated to effectively remove stubborn plaque incrustations and tartar deposited on the teeth.
  • It is recommended to brush your teeth with toothpaste and brush for at least 2 minutes: approximately, every dental semi-arch should be cleaned for 30 seconds. If you have a soft bristle toothbrush, it is advisable to dedicate at least 3 minutes to tooth hygiene.
