Paidocosmetici for the Diaper Area - Children's Cosmetics

The periurethral region, immediately after the birth of the newborn, is colonized by aerobic and anaerobic resident microorganisms, which have the very important function of protecting this area from the attack of the uro-pathogens.

In infancy, in fact, the periurethral region is characterized by a massive colonization of uro-pathogens, due to the direct contact of this part of the body with faecal excrement and urine, which often stagnate in the diaper for some time. The hot-humid micro-environment and the contact between skin, urine and faeces can also give rise to irritative phenomena such as the classic diaper dermatitis that are resolved with the use of suitable cosmetic products.

Protective Creams

  • Protective creams contain a good quantity of emollient and active vegetable lipids with soothing and anti-reddening properties. They are used for medium-sized irritations because they have medium protective capacities, they contain small amounts of dust such as zinc oxide. They are pleasant to apply. Constantly used to protect and strengthen the delicate skin of the child.

Paste

  • The pastes, on the other hand, are formulations with a high dust content (zinc oxide), which ensure maximum protection because they create an occlusive film that protects the skin from aggression by external agents. They should be used only when there is a real problem at the level of the genito-perianal area and that is when one wants to isolate the buttock area avoiding contact with the diaper. The spreadability of this type of product is often difficult.

Cleansing Wipes

  • The detergent wipes are "non-woven" handkerchiefs soaked in a solution containing surfactants, moisturizing, soothing and protective substances, perfume and preservatives. After use, if the skin is not thoroughly rinsed and remains in contact with the substances listed above, sensitization and irritation may occur. If used correctly, rinsing the skin with warm water immediately after use, they are a good way to clean.

Sprinkling Powders

  • The sprinkling powders can be vegetable type (based on starch) and mineral type (containing bentonites, mineral oxides). The problem that distinguishes them is the danger of inhalation by the child or, if the powders are very fine, of absorption. To be preferred as a substitute for the classic talc, the liquid talc which contains a high dust content, ensures adequate protection and at the same time, thanks to its particular liquid technical form, is not dangerous for the health of the child.
