Mathematics Olympics

This is a competition reserved for high school students, therefore for children no older than the first twenty years. The mathematics Olympics are a real intellectual competition that has as its subject six mathematical problems, which boast a maximum score of 7 points each for a total of 42 points.

The event is local; is organized by the "Unione Matematica Italiana" and makes use of various preparatory phases superseded by a specific and assigned commission.

The number of students taking part is about 300, 000 a year, deriving from 1500 different institutions. The final is generally organized in Cesenatico in May.

For young brains, this event is not a point of arrival, but rather a selection that instead proves to be a real "launching pad" towards the next levels. Among the winners, in fact, the most capable students are chosen who will be assigned to the "International Mathematical Olimpyad", a competition of a higher level and, as the name implies, an international value.
