Product features Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

Alpha Lipoic Acid 200mg - Lipoic acid is an acid synthesized in small quantities endogenously starting from octanoic acid. Red meats, especially liver, tubers and leafy greens contain lipoic acid, whose levels of intestinal absorption seem to be very scarce. In the form of an integrator, on the other hand, bioavailability levels are around 30/40% with a blood peak around 1h and 25 'after taking it. In cells, alpha lipoic acid carries out a series of essential functions:

  1. Enzymatic cofactor: intervenes in oxidative decarboxylation reactions, guaranteeing the correct energy flow especially due to the oxidative pathway of carbohydrates and branched chain amino acids;
  2. Antioxidant: guarantees protection against reactive oxygen species, responsible for oxidative damage;
  3. Regeneration of other antioxidants: Glutathione, Vitamin C and Vitamin E;
  4. Chelant of heavy metals such as mercury;
  5. Improves cellular glucose uptake;
  6. Intracellular signal modulator.

Given the many biological effects of this molecule, its supplementation has been used for therapeutic purposes, resulting particularly effective in treating the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy, in the metabolic rebalancing of diabetic pathology, in neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases.

In sports practice, the use of alpha lipoic acid should promote oxidative metabolism, therefore on the one hand increase muscular energy capacity and on the other reduce tissue damage and the feeling of fatigue that follows training. It could also optimize the recovery phase, facilitating cellular glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis, with a consequent increase in lean mass.

However, the scientific literature exclusively shows the ability to reduce markers of muscle damage and increase the antioxidant capacity of the cell following physical exercise.

Recommended use by the company - Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

1 cps a day in a little water on a full stomach.

Mode of use in sports practice Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

The dosages present in the literature - relative to the possibility of obtaining effects in terms of increased cellular anti-oxidant capacities and reduction of ROS levels - are obtained by administering 600 mg / day of lipoic acid (study conducted for 8 days). Other studies show that supplementation alone of 150mg / day for 3 weeks, also accompanied by Vitamins E and Vitamin C can reduce the sensation of fatigue in high altitude climbers.

In the diabetic pathology dosages exceeding 600mg / day have also been tested, but the effects obtained in terms of increased insulin sensitivity seem to be at the same level (+ 25%) as the minimum dose administered (600mg).

How to optimize your business - Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

The synergy between lipoic acid and antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E has proved particularly effective, not only in improving pathological conditions due to oxidative stress, but also in reducing the feeling of fatigue following intense physical exercise; therefore their simultaneous intake could reduce the harmful effect (in terms of oxidative muscle damage) of intense training.

In purely metabolic terms, on the other hand, the simultaneous intake of lipoic acid and L carnitine could improve mitochondrial oxidative metabolism, and therefore reduce lactate production. Furthermore, it appears to be shown that the combination of cratin and lipoic acid may increase phosphocreatine muscle stocks.

Rationale for use - Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

The therapeutic effects of alpha lipoic acid in the treatment of numerous diseases are well established. Few studies have been carried out, instead, on its application in the sports field; however, from these emerges, the antioxidant role is performed in the reduction of markers of muscular oxidative damage and in the increase of important antioxidants such as glutathione in its reduced form.

Regarding the association of antioxidants, the literature considers the activity of these to be effective in reducing oxidative damage both in pathological conditions and following physical activity, while the association between alpha lipoic acid and acetyl l carnitine has been documented in treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, in the reduction of mitochondrial function associated with age and in cardiovascular pathologies, proving to be effective in reducing oxidative damage, but above all in preserving the correct mitochondrial function.

Studies on the efficacy of their association in healthy individuals undergoing physical exercise are lacking.

Lipoic Acid Side Effects - Eurosup

At doses above 1200 mg / day, side effects such as itching, tingling and gastrointestinal tract infections (diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal cramps) have been documented.

Precautions for use Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

Contraindicated in cases of renal, hepatic, diabetic, pregnancy and lactation.

Interactions Lipoic Acid - Eurosup

Pharmacological - given the ability of lipoic acid to activate intracellular glucose intake, the simultaneous intake of hypoglycemic agents could have an unexpected and marked hypoglycemic effect; you should therefore consult your doctor before use.

Food - given the structure very similar to biotin, the two molecules could compete for the membrane transporter.
