Pizza calories

Widespread and loved around the world, pizza is a versatile food that is well suited to the imagination of those who prepare it. The combinations of ingredients used during its preparation are in fact innumerable and even the recipe of the dough, jealously guarded, varies from pizza maker to pizza maker. All this variability makes it very difficult to answer a rather simple and common question: how many calories does a pizza have?

INRAN (National Research Institute for Food and Nutrition) tells us that tomato and mozzarella pizza provides an average of 271 calories per 100 grams. According to the same authoritative source, it is better for red pizza (243 calories for a similar quantity), worse for white pizza (302 Kcal / 100 g). In reality it is sufficient to add a tablespoon of olive oil and the use of a mozzarella richer in fats to make the total contribution of the dish rise up to 150 calories.

Considering that a medium sized margherita pizza weighs between 250 and 300 grams, we can establish an average calorie intake of 700 Kcal for this dish. The calories deriving from the addition of the various ingredients (vegetables, meats, fish, eggs or cheeses) will then be added to this value.

To calculate, with the appropriate approximations, the calories of your favorite pizza, simply select the various ingredients from the drop-down menu, specifying, from time to time, the quantities of the additions.
