Indications AULIN GEL ® Nimesulide

AULIN GEL ® is indicated in the symptomatic treatment of osteoarticular pain present during inflammatory and traumatic pathologies such as strains, bursitis, tendinitis, lumbago and sprains.

Mechanism of action AULIN GEL ® Nimesulide

AULIN GEL ® allows the use of an active ingredient, particularly effective from the pharmacological point of view for its anti-inflammatory properties, such as topical nimesulide.

This important route of administration, which is effective from a therapeutic point of view, ensuring a significant reduction in pain associated with the inflammatory pathology and its consequences, is also safe, significantly reducing the incidence of the numerous side effects associated instead with the enteral administration of the active ingredient, and in particular hepatotoxicity.

Once applied to the skin, nimesulide is able to concentrate mainly in the center, expounding its therapeutic action through:

  • Selective inhibition of induced cyclooxygenases (COX2) from injurious processes, thus reducing the concentrations of prostaglandins with edemigenic, inflammatory and painful activity;
  • The reduction of inflammatory tissue damage, guaranteed by the inhibition of the metal proteases;
  • The scavanger action against oxygen free radicals, involved in the genesis of oxidative damage.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. THE NIMESULIDE CONCENTRATIONS IN SINOVIE

Int J Clin Pharmacol Ther. 2006 Jun; 44 (6): 270-5.

Study demonstrating how topical application of nimesulide can guarantee the achievement of greater concentrations at the synovial level, thus allowing a more effective local therapeutic action.

2. THE TOPIC NIMESULIDE IN THE TREATMENT OF OSTEOARTRITIS

J Clin Rheumatol. 2007 Oct; 13 (5): 251-5.

He works showing that topical administration of nimesulide can be effective in reducing the pain present in patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis, significantly improving the quality of life and making it safe and free of serious side effects.

3. VIE OF ADMINISTRATION IN COMPARISON

Eur J Clin Pharmacol. 1998 Sep; 54 (7): 541-7.

Comparative study that tests the efficacy and safety of topical nimesulide over other active ingredients. The data show that this route of administration allows the maintenance of an excellent therapeutic efficacy while reducing the potential side effects of oral therapy with NSAIDs

Method of use and dosage

AULIN GEL ®

3% gel containing 30 mg of nimesulide every gram of gel.

we recommend applying a thin layer of gel to the area affected by the inflammatory process, two to three times a day, taking care to gently massage the region until the product is completely absorbed.

Warnings AULIN GEL ® Nimesulide

In order to reduce the systemic absorption of the drug, it would be advisable to avoid using AULIN GEL ® on particularly large cutaneous regions, damaged or affected by infectious processes of various nature.

The product does not come into contact with the mucous membranes, therefore it is recommended to carefully wash the hands after applying the product, in order to adequately remove all the excess drug.

AULIN GEL ® contains para-hydroxybenzoates, excipients characterized by a strong allergenic power, therefore dangerous for atopic patients.

Despite the systemic absorption of nimesulide taken through AULIN GEL ® is scarce, it would be advisable to pay attention in case of concomitant presence of gastro-intestinal, cardiovascular, hepatic and renal pathologies.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

Although the systemic absorption of nimesulide applied via the skin is definitely poor and given the absence of significant clinical trials, it would be preferable to extend the contraindications to the use of AULIN GEL ® even during pregnancy and the subsequent breastfeeding phase

Interactions

The topical use of nimesulide eliminates all the risks related to possible drug interactions deriving from the simultaneous administration of other active ingredients.

Contraindications AULIN GEL ® Nimesulide

The use of AULIN GEL ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients.

It is recommended to avoid the application of this medicine on damaged skin or those subject to various types of infection.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

Topical application of nimesulide significantly reduces the numerous side effects commonly associated with os therapy.

However, it is important to report the rare cases of dermatological reactions of modest clinical relevance (itching and rash) following the application of AULIN GEL ®.

It is also recommended not to expose the region treated with the drug to sunlight, given the increased risk of photosensitivity.

Note
