biodermogenesi

What is that

Biodermogenesis is an aesthetic medicine treatment used above all to combat stretch marks, but not only. In fact, biodermogenesis has proved to be a very useful technique to counteract other imperfections caused by the passage of time, such as the relaxation of certain areas of the body (abdomen, breasts, buttocks, etc.) and the appearance of wrinkles.

The peculiarity of biodermogenesis - and perhaps one of the reasons why it is so much appreciated in our country - is the fact that this technique is 100% made in Italy. The treatment, in fact, is the result of the work of a group of Florentine researchers that began in 2006.

How does it work

How does Biodermogenesis work?

Biodermogenesis can be defined as a combined treatment that uses an association between radiofrequency and magnetic fields .

It is performed through the use of special machinery (Bi-One®, Bi-One® Medical Division - reserved for medical use - and Akronos) and the so-called Biodermogenesi® Cosmetics, or cosmetic products conceived and designed for specific use in this context, they have the task of hydrating, nourishing and promoting skin regeneration, acting in synergy with the aforementioned machines.

These machines are equipped with handpieces that are made to slide over the areas you want to treat while delivering light electrical impulses . The latter are able to stimulate fibroblasts (dermis cells), pushing them to synthesize new elastic fibers and new collagen. Subsequently, the instrument emits magnetic fields capable of activating cell exchange and improving the vascular and circulatory activity of the treated area. In a second moment, the same magnetic fields are able to exert a sort of draining action, stimulating the reabsorption of the waste produced by the revascularization of the treated tissues.

Thanks to this synergy between electrical impulses and magnetic fields, and thanks to the particular mechanisms of action with which these act on the skin tissue, biodermogenesis is able to induce a real regeneration of the skin.

Indications

When can Biodermogenesis be used?

From the various studies conducted so far, biodermogenesis has proved effective in the treatment of:

  • Stretch marks (streaks both red and white);
  • Skin wrinkles and furrows caused by aging at the face and neck level;
  • Loss of firmness in different areas of the body, such as buttocks, thighs, breasts and abdomen;
  • Post-surgical scars and scars resulting from burns.

Warning!

Although biodermogenesis is considered as a safe treatment that can be used in various areas of the body, it cannot be performed at the level of the ears, ocular hollow, axillary hollow, lips, genitals and nipples.

Effectiveness

Is Biodermogenesis Really Effective?

The efficacy of the biodermogenesis treatment has been confirmed by several clinical studies conducted on the subject.

In 2008 a study was published by the University of Pavia on more than 2, 000 patients who underwent biodermogenesis for the treatment of white stretch marks (therefore, already in the scar phase). This study has shown that biodermogenesis is able to induce a notable regeneration of stretch marks which - following exposure to the sun - tan in a similar way to the rest of the skin not affected by these imperfections. This phenomenon, therefore, confirms the successful skin regeneration at the level of the striae.

Furthermore, it has been shown that the results obtained by biodermogenesis remain over time (studies have shown that the results last up to six years after treatment, but this period could be even longer).

Subsequently, studies were also conducted on the ability of biodermogenesis to restore the tone of different areas of the body and to combat wrinkles. Even in these cases, the results were positive.

Finally, in 2016, the effectiveness of biodermogenesis in the treatment of post-surgical scars and scars resulting from burns was demonstrated.

How you do it

How does a Biodermogenesis session take place?

First of all, before undergoing biodermogenesis, it is necessary to carry out a preliminary assessment, in which the doctor or the specialized operator will evaluate the type of blemish to be treated and its severity. Afterwards, a personalized work protocol will be created for each patient that will consist of more or less sessions to be held at well-established time intervals.

After that, you can proceed with the actual treatment. However, the performance of the biodermogenesis session may vary depending on the type of imperfection that is to be treated.

Biodermogenesis of the body

When biodermogenesis is performed to counter stretch marks and scars or to tone the body, the treatment basically takes place in four phases:

  • Initially, through the use of an abrasive sponge grafted onto a vacuum handpiece, a mechanical scrub is performed, thus increasing skin perspiration.
  • Then specific cosmetics are applied to the area to be treated, formulated with active ingredients (hyaluronic acid, amino acids, nutrients, etc.) useful for restoring normal skin conditions and for counteracting the imperfection one wants to fight. Following the application of these cosmetics, low-intensity electrostimulation is carried out which favors the absorption of these same products.
  • The third phase of the treatment is called " ACTIVE phase ", during which the machinery for biodermogenesis emits electrical impulses and magnetic fields that induce skin regeneration.
  • Finally, during the last treatment phase, a new electrostimulation is carried out in order to restore hydration and cutaneous pH .

When carried out to combat stretch marks, at the end of the biodermogenesis session it is advisable to expose the treated area to the sun or to artificial UVA rays to favor the repigmentation of the fabric .

In order to obtain appreciable results, however, it is necessary to undergo 10-20 sessions .

Normal activities can be resumed immediately and recovery or healing times are not necessary. The only precaution to follow is to avoid taking baths or showers with cold water in the two hours after the treatment, as it could reduce the effectiveness of the session just performed.

Biodermogenesis against the signs of aging on the face and neck

When biodermogenesis is carried out to contrast wrinkles and signs of aging at the level of the face and neck, the work is carried out substantially in two phases:

  • Initially, specific cosmetics are applied (generally based on hyaluronic acid with high concentrations and active principles amino acid precursors) and a slight electrostimulation is performed to favor absorption.
  • Then, we proceed with the ACTIVE phase, during which the machinery emits electrical impulses and magnetic fields, stimulating skin regeneration and favoring the normalization of skin pH and sebum production .

The biodermogenesis treatment on the face and neck lasts about 30 minutes and, to obtain good results, about 4 to 10 sessions are required.

The biodermogenesis treatment can also be performed by non-medical personnel, provided it is carried out by a specialized operator and qualified to perform this particular technique, and provided that the treatment is carried out in accredited centers.

Likewise, even the specialist doctors who carry out biodermogenesis must be qualified and trained in accredited clinics.

However, non-healthcare personnel can use biodermogenesis only for the treatment of slight blemishes; while for the treatment of more serious imperfections and / or post-surgical or burn scars, biodermogenesis must be carried out by specialized medical personnel.

Results

In general, the results obtained with biodermogenesis almost always meet patients' satisfaction, although not all the subjects who underwent it have achieved the desired results.

On the other hand, as with any other aesthetic treatment, the final results can vary greatly from individual to individual, depending both on the type and severity of the aesthetic problem to be treated, and on the response of the patient to the treatment.

When biodermogenesis is used in the treatment of stretch marks, in most cases, the striae regenerate almost completely, becoming little perceptible, both visually and by touch. In some cases, they can even disappear altogether.

Similarly, the treatment of areas that have lost tone, as well as the treatment of wrinkles and scars leads to a noticeable improvement in the appearance of the skin, which appears more elastic, more hydrated, more toned and smoothed, in short, regenerated.

Please note

Skin aging and the appearance of wrinkles are completely natural phenomena, which cannot be stopped in any way. Therefore, it may be that the duration of the results obtained with biodermogenesis for facial rejuvenation is significantly lower than the results obtained on stretch marks and scars.

Advantages

Compared to numerous other treatments of dermo-aesthetic medicine, the advantages deriving from the use of biodermogenesis are many. In fact:

  • It is not an invasive technique ;
  • It is a painless treatment, therefore, it does not require any kind of anesthesia;
  • The results are appreciated in a short time, already from the first sessions;
  • Normal daily activities can be resumed immediately;
  • It is possible to perform this treatment even in summer (indeed, in the treatment of stretch marks, it is advisable);
  • The results last over time, therefore maintenance sessions are not necessary.

Side effects

At the moment, there are no known side effects resulting from the use of biodermogenesis. However, it should be noted that in the presence of cellulite, the start of treatment could be annoying for the patient.

Contraindications

The biodermogenesis treatment has some contraindications. Indeed, it must not be carried out in the following cases:

  • On irritated skin;
  • In case of pathologies and / or skin infections;
  • Pregnant;
  • During breastfeeding.

In the event that you suffer from diseases and / or disorders of the cardiovascular system, before performing such treatment, you must inform your doctor or operator.

In any case, in these cases, before undergoing any dermo-aesthetic treatment, it is always good to ask for the preventive advice of your doctor.

costs

Although rich in advantages, biodermogenesis has rather high costs, which certainly represent a disadvantage for many patients. In fact, the price of a single session can vary from 100 to 150 euros, depending on the type of imperfection that must be treated and its extension.

Since more sessions are needed to obtain excellent results, it is clear that the cost of the entire treatment can be decidedly high.

However, it should be remembered that due to the duration of the results obtained, it is usually not necessary to undergo maintenance biodermogenesis sessions.
