anatomy

subscapularis

The subscapularis muscle originates in the subscapular fossa and its beams, are directed obliquely upwards until they reach the small tuberosity of the humerus on which they are inserted. Some bundles are also inserted on the crest of the lesser tubercle.

With its action it adduces and rotates inward the arm (intrarotatore). It is one of the four muscles that make up the rotator cuff (supraspinatus, subspinate, subscapularis and small round).

It is innervated by the subscaply nerve (C5-C8).
