CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ELLIPTICALS

The elliptical is a strenuous tool, in fact it is better to start with short training sessions, of about 10-15 minutes, especially if you are not fit enough, always trying to keep a fluid and continuous movement. Later you can also do 30-45 minute workouts, but it is better to start slowly.

With the use of the elliptical and the pedaling forward, the quadriceps, abdominals and buttocks are particularly stressed. With the elliptical, pedaling can take place not only forward, but also backwards allowing in particular the training of the hamstrings. With the movement of the upper "arms" of the elliptical, all the muscles of the arms and also the pectorals are trained. With the use of the elliptical, cardiovascular training is also carried out with the aim of increasing resistance under stress, with considerable benefits for the entire cardiovascular system.

During training it is very important to keep yourself erect, not bent, with a proper distance between your arms and those of the elliptical. If you are not trained, it is best to minimize backward pedaling, which, although it has positive effects on the hamstrings, can cause knee injuries. Furthermore, it is important to keep a continuous and harmonious pace of training, without tearing. In the elliptical models that allow it, it is advisable to change the resistance increasing it when you are almost at the end of the exercise, and then gradually decrease it until the end of your training session.

The fundamental characteristic of the elliptical is the fluid and soft movement with which the exercises are performed.

There are different types of ellipticals and can be divided by length:

less than 1 meter: often they do not have sufficient length to propose a real fluid elliptical movement. In fact the movement of the legs is rather circular and in muscle tone it is quite limited.

Then there are the ellipticals between 1 m and 1.30 m, in which the amplitude of the stride is already decidedly more fluid and soft. They are pleasant ellipticals and the upper part of the body (arms, trunk and back) is particularly stressed during the session, allowing a workout suitable for all levels.

Finally, there are ellipticals with a stride length of more than 1.30 m, in this case they are high quality ellipticals with a very robust structure and a considerable stroke width. Users who are taller than 1.80 m and who want to train on a comfortable product are advised.

In general, elliptical consoles display basic information, useful for training, such as time, speed, distance traveled, calories burned and sometimes even heart rate.

Some models of elliptical trainers also have a travel angle adjustment. On some ellipticals this type of adjustment is manual and forces the user to get off the elliptical to vary the working angle, while on other models of ellipticals this adjustment is electric, by simply pressing a button, which can be changed during the year without interruption.
