Generality and types of Curry

The curry, or more precisely MASALA, is an apothecary compound of Indian origin; the term curry is a word westernized by the British people deriving from the noun CARI, which means soup.

Curry is a spice obtained by beating with a mortar of different ingredients: the result can be spicy (mild) or very spicy (sweet; contrary to the English meaning of the word). In addition to the distinction between hot and spicy, there are many recipes for curry composition; the most famous are undoubtedly the GARAM and the TANDOORI.

Ingredients

black pepper, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, curcuma, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, fenugreek and chilli.

Property

The main ingredient of curry is turmeric, a plant belonging to the botanical family of Zingiberaceae. The turmeric spice, which is obtained by pulverizing the root and the rhizome of the plant, can boast a concentration in CURCUMINA that reaches 2%. This active-pharmacological principle, in concentrated doses, has proved to be very effective in the prevention or treatment (single or adjuvant) of some pathologies; the most significant results concern the prevention of intestinal neoplasms, the prevention and slowing down of nerve degeneration (such as Alzheimer's) and the prevention with reduction of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

The preventive power of curry is therefore linked to the anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential of curcumin, which almost has no side effects (toxicity obtained with doses of 8000mg / day); all the features mentioned above are the result of more than 688 studies, of which over 400 have been published.

In particular, the anti-inflammatory action of curcumin contained in the curry seems to play a fundamental role in the prevention of pathologies with inflammatory etiopathogenesis, as, like many drugs, it is able to drastically reduce the production of the Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) avoiding the degenerative action.
