The Vomiting that kills: can you die of vomit?

It is said that the king of the Huns - the infamous Attila, scourge of God on earth - died on the evening of his marriage with Ildiko for the suffocation caused by a too large morsel. According to other versions, the death of Attila (453 AD) would have been the inhalation of his own vomit caused by excessive libations, or internal digestive bleeding.

Death from vomiting is rare, but can occur by suffocation if the victim is in a state of unconsciousness. A strong abuse of alcohol and / or drugs, for example, can cause death by suffocation from vomiting.

Although the precise causes of their death are in some ways still to be clarified, characters of the caliber of Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham and Bon Scott would have died (according to one of the most accredited theories) precisely because of suffocation from vomiting.
