Cervical pain

Message sent by: Salvatore

Hi Salvatore,

if the traumatic event dates back to about 5 years ago I suppose in the meantime you have carried out all the necessary investigations (x-rays, magnetic resonances, specialist examinations, etc.).

If these checks have shown a simple stretching of the neck muscles of the left side you need to know that this is an acute traumatic event that generally should be resolved within 15-30 days.

The persistence of pain is probably due to a more important injury (for example a muscular distraction). In this type of injury there is a real tear of some fibers that make up the muscle. This break is sewn up and repaired with scar tissue, less elastic than the muscular one. Although it is possible to limit the extent of damage with adequate therapies, the muscle will never return as before.

A regular exercise program with general toning exercises combined with other stretching exercises for specific neck muscles could probably help.

In any case, given the delicacy of the problem, I advise you to talk about it again with a physiotherapist or other specialized medical personnel.
