Painful ejaculation

Definition

In addition to premature ejaculation, painful perception during the ejaculatory act is a common disorder that afflicts and torments many sexually active men. Some patients turn to the andrologist only after having defeated groundless anxiety and shame. It is estimated that men tend to turn their problems to the doctor much later than women: painful ejaculation should therefore not be a cause for embarrassment, far from it, since the quicker you run for cover, the faster the problem will be solved .

Causes

Many patients complain of painful or annoying ejaculation, often accompanied by pain when urinating; some of them affirm that painful perception sometimes even lasts for a few hours following the relationship. In the vast majority of subjects, the cause lies in the spasmodic contraction of the prostate during ejaculation, determined, in turn, by chronic prostatitis, of a bacterial nature or not. It should be remembered that the prostate also retains the function of producing part of the seminal fluid that is ousted during the ejaculatory act.

However, painful ejaculation could also conceal urethritis (infections at the level of the urethra), disorders which fall into three venereal diseases.

Inflammation of the urethra and inflammation of the prostate are the two most common causative factors responsible for painful ejaculation; however, possible infections are sperm infections - caused mainly by chlamydia - and narrowing of the urethral canal. Painful orgasm or ejaculation?

Many patients tend to confuse these two problematic conditions, typical of the sexual sphere: while painful ejaculation is mainly linked to infections or inflammations, on the other the painful sensations perceived during orgasm not attributable to the ejaculatory act, are consequence of pelvic or spinal lesions. The patient often fails to distinguish the two conditions: for this reason the consultation of the doctor is absolutely inescapable. [taken from clinical Andrology, by Wolf-Bernhard Schill, Frank H. Comhaire, Timothy B. Hargreave].

Diagnosis

The medical interview represents the first step towards the treatment of painful ejaculation: patients, in general, complain of acute pain and sharp pain just moments before ejaculation. Spasms can fade in a short time but, in other cases, they can last a few hours.

After a direct interview with the specialist, useful for designing an initial clinical picture, the patient is generally subjected to bacteriological tests of urine and sperm. Eventually, to diagnose the causes responsible for painful ejaculation, the doctor will be able to recommend an ultrasound scan of the prostate to the patient [taken from the site: //www.androweb.it/]

Cures and treatments

After isolating the main causative factor, guilty of painful ejaculation, the doctor prescribes some suitable pharmacological specialties, aimed at eliminating infection and / or inflammation, when present. It is also advisable to have regular sexual activity, avoiding long periods of stasis; in addition to what has been stated, it is necessary to follow a balanced diet, limiting excessive intake of chocolate, coffee, wine, alcoholic and carbonated drinks. Body weight should also be monitored, as excess fat may worsen the patient's clinical picture: in fact, overweight and obese subjects have shown a greater propensity to painful ejaculation, since the excess fat layer tends to compress the urinary tract, therefore the perception of pain is favored both during urination and during intercourse.

These last tips should always be followed, not only in the presence of painful ejaculation. Only rarely, anxiolytic drugs are prescribed, since stress does not heavily affect the appearance of painful ejaculation.
