Gouty or uric arthritis is a sudden attack of gout, in which monosodium urate crystals settle in the cartilages ruining and inflaming the articular heads and causing a strong pain in the joints, especially to the toes.

The therapy of uric arthritis is very similar to that undertaken for the treatment of gout, and consists in a simple administration of vitamin B6 and magnesium; all combined with a diet low in uric acid. If the form of gouty arthritis is very heavy it must resort to the administration of drugs such as NSAIDs or glucocorticoids, which allow the reduction of uric acid levels in the blood.
