Indications LORENIL ® Fenticonazole

LORENIL ® is indicated in the treatment of candidiasis of genital mucous membranes.

Mechanism of action LORENIL ® Fenticonazole

Fenticonazole, the active ingredient of LORENIL ®, is an imidazole derivative that has been used for years in the treatment of dermatomycoses and candidiasis of the genital mucosa.

Used topically Fenticonazole is able to easily permeate the plasma membrane of fungal cells, inhibiting the enzyme 14 alpha methyl lanosterol demethylase, and compromising the synthesis of Ergosterol, sterol present in abundance in the plasma membrane and responsible for the chemical properties physical parts of the same.

The reduction on one side of this element and the accumulation of potentially toxic catabolites compromises the vitality of the fungal cell, determining the death of the same and the regression of the symptomatology.

In addition to the antifungal activity, Fenticonazole is also effective against Gram positiv microorganisms, being able to exert a therapeutic action even in bacterial over infections.
