Directions CALCIUM SANDOZ ® - Calcium gluconate + Calcium carbonate

CALCIUM SANDOZ ® is used in the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency states, in order to avoid the onset of more serious pathological conditions.

Mechanism of action CALCIUM SANDOZ ® - Calcium gluconate + calcium carbonate

CALCIUM SANDOZ ® is a drug characterized by the presence of two different calcium salts, calcium gluconate and calcium carbonate, both characterized by similar pharmacokinetic properties able to allow rapid dissolution in aqueous medium and the release of ionized calcium.

The latter can be effectively absorbed by enterocytes present on the intestinal mucosa through a facilitated diffusion mechanism and an active transport mechanism.

The absorbed quota is introduced into the circulatory stream and sorted to the various tissues where, according to the needs of the organism and its hormonal and vitamin profile, it can be engaged in bone metabolism, muscle and nervous rather than being eliminated through feces, urine and sweat.

Therefore, maintaining the correct blood calcium concentrations becomes fundamental in preserving the body from serious diseases such as osteoporosis and neurodegenerative diseases.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. SOCCER SUPPLEMENTATION REDUCES THE BONE REASSORTION

Calcium supplementation has proven to be useful in modulating bone remodeling processes, more precisely by reducing blood reabsorption markers, and thus proving to be a potential preventive ally of osteoporotic pathology.

2. THE EFFECTS OF CALCIUM ON THE HEMATOGRIT OF ATHLETES

Experimental study that shows how supplementation with calcium for four weeks in athletes subjected to intense training can lead to an increase in the number of white blood cells and red blood cells.

3. CALCIUM AND TESTOSTERONE

Interesting work that shows how supplementation with calcium can be useful in increasing blood testosterone concentrations, thus supporting the athlete's overall performance.

Method of use and dosage

CALCIUM SANDOZ ®

Effervescent tablets of 1132 mg of calcium lactate gluconate and 875 mg of calcium carbonate equal to 500 mg of calcium;

2263 mg effervescent tablets of calcium lactate gluconate and 1750 mg of calcium carbonate equivalent to 1000 mg of calcium:

in adults it is recommended to take 1 g of calcium a day, dissolving the tablet in a glass of water and drinking it immediately.

Warnings CALCIUM SANDOZ ® - Calcium gluconate + Calcium carbonate

The use of CALCIUM SANDOZ ® should be preceded by a careful medical examination to assess the possible presence of conditions incompatible with the intake of this trace element.

Patients suffering from renal and cardiovascular diseases should be followed with particular care by the competent doctor, in order to avoid the appearance of serious side effects.

For the same reason, patients should be subjected to periodic monitoring to assess renal function and blood calcium concentrations.

CALCIUM SANDOZ ® contains lactose, therefore its use is not recommended in patients with lactose intolerance, lactase enzyme deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The intake of CALCIUM SANDOZ ® during pregnancy and lactation to meet the increased needs of this trace element, should be under strict medical supervision and with continuous monitoring of calcemia.

Interactions

Significant variations in the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of calcium could be determined by the contextual use of:

  • Thiazide diuretics;
  • Cardiac and digital glycosides;
  • Bisphosphonates and vitamin D;
  • Oxalic acid and phytic acid.

In contrast, calcium could reduce the bioavailability of antibiotics such as tetracyclines.

Contraindications CALCIUM SANDOZ ® - Calcium gluconate + Calcium carbonate

Taking CALCIUM SANDOZ ® is contraindicated in cases of hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, renal insufficiency, therapy with cardiac glycosides and hypersensitivity to the active substance or to one of its excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

Oral administration of calcium is very well tolerated and has no clinically significant side effects when performed according to the correct therapeutic schemes.

Excessive or prolonged dosages over time, could instead be due to flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pains and in the most serious cases even hypercalcaemia.
