Indications PLAK OUT ® Clorexidine

PLAK OUT® is indicated both as a disinfectant and antiseptic of the oral cavity in the prevention or treatment of infectious-inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity, and in common oral hygiene in particularly difficult cases.

Mechanism of action PLAK OUT ® Chlorhexidine

Chlorhexidine, the active ingredient of PLAK OUT®, is a synthetic molecule with antibiotic and bacteriostatic activity, especially effective against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, responsible for oral infections.

The aforementioned activity is due to the ability of Chlorhexidine to alter the normal structure of the cell membrane, altering its permeability and favoring the death of the bacteria by osmotic lysis.

The antiseptic and bactericidal action could therefore be useful in the prevention of infectious diseases of the oral cavity, especially following surgical or dental procedures, or in cases where normal hygiene is difficult or compromised.

The excellent efficacy of action is also facilitated by the pharmacokinetic properties, which allow Clorexidine to interact with high affinity with the mucosa of the oral cavity, minimizing the systemic absorption of the active ingredient, so as to almost eliminate the systemic risk.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

CHLOREXIDINE AGAINST PLAQUE AND GINGIVITIS

Evid Based Dent. 2013 Mar; 14 (1): 17-8.

Study that demonstrates how the use of oral chloridexidine-based washing solutions can significantly reduce plaque formation and subsequent gingivitis, thus significantly improving the health of the oral cavity.

CLOREXIDINE AND DENTINE STRUCTURE

Braz Oral Res. 2013 Apr 9: 0.

Work that evaluates a potential side effect of Chlorhexidine, characterized by the reduction of tooth strength by dentin demineralization.

The data recorded to date are not able to attribute to this active principle the aforementioned activity, which instead seems able to reduce the risk of caries.

CHLOREXIDINE AND GENGIVAL HYPERPLASIA IN THERAPY PATIENTS WITH CYCLOSPORIN A

J Formos Med Assoc. 2013 Mar; 112 (3): 131-7. 4.

Very interesting study that demonstrates how twice-daily treatment with oral chlorhexidine-based washing solutions can significantly reduce gingival hyperplasia in patients taking Ciclosporina A.

Method of use and dosage

PLAK OUT®

Solution for the oral mucosa at 0.12% or at 3.5% of Chlorhexidine digluconate.

Although PLAK OUT® can be sold without a prescription, the correct reconstitution of the oral washing solution should be defined by your doctor or dentist based on therapeutic and preventive needs.

Generally two daily rinses are recommended, morning and evening, preferably after cleaning the teeth.

Warnings PLAK OUT ® Clorexidine

Before using PLAK OUT® it would be advisable to consult your doctor or dentist in order to accurately assess the overall health of the oral cavity.

The use of PLAK OUT® could also determine the appearance of such sensitization phenomena that require the suspension of the therapy in progress.

It is recommended to avoid ingestion of the drug and contact with the eyes. the.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The use of PLAK OUT® during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of breastfeeding should only take place in cases of real need and under the strict supervision of your gynecologist, given the absence of studies able to fully characterize the profile of safety of Chlorhexidine for the fetus and the infant, although the systemic absorption of the drug is irrelevant

Interactions

Drug interactions worthy of clinical note are currently unknown.

Contraindications PLAK OUT ® Clorexidine

The use of PLAK OUT® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active substance or to one of its excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects
