Slimming teas

Every year after the Christmas binges or when summer is approaching, the assault on the gymnasiums and herbalists begins on time. When time is running out and the lost line needs to be quickly recovered, all means seem legitimate. Many people use so-called "last-minute" diets, fasting or some products from the colorful world of herbs and supplements.

Often people, rather than relying on chemicals, prefer to resort to natural products such as slimming or purifying teas . Some herbal supplements are painted as miracle products, advertising properties that do not always respond to the truth. The idea of slimming and purifying herbal tea certainly responds to the commercial interests of those who produce it, but it does not always satisfy the wishes of those who buy it.

Herbal teas are usually composed of herbs rich in fiber, with a diuretic and laxative effect. Plants with purifying properties are quite common and well known in the popular tradition:

dandelion, artichoke, pilosella, lespedeza, ottosifon, mallow, passionflower, elderberry.

These herbs taken as a slimming herbal tea have a mild purifying and diuretic effect. These characteristics would increase considerably if concentrated extracts were used. Precisely because more diluted herbal teas, although less effective, they present a lower risk of side effects and can therefore be consumed with a certain freedom.

Weight loss promotes the oxidation of lipid stocks by releasing toxins contained in them. This process stimulates the body to store as much fat as possible (in order to protect itself from the increase in toxins).

Teas rich in water and substances with a diuretic and purifying effect can therefore have a certain efficacy in favoring the elimination of toxic substances and at the same time promote weight loss. The fibers they contain also tend to stimulate the sense of satiety and reduce the intestinal absorption of fats and toxins.

Other plants such as rhodiola and griffonia simplicifolia have instead an effect on the nervous modulation of the sense of hunger. The iodine contained in the algae promotes an increase in basal metabolism and therefore has a potential beneficial effect on weight loss.

However, slimming teas must not replace the few, but good eating habits needed to promote weight loss. See: food tips.
