Indications FLUBASON ® Doxymethasone

FLUBASON ® is successfully used in the treatment of various inflammatory and pruritic skin manifestations such as dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.

Mechanism of action FLUBASON ® Doxymethasone

The Deoxymethasone, active ingredient of FLUBASON ®, is a corticosteroid studied and optimized for topical use, with the aim of reducing as much as possible the systemic absorption while safeguarding all the therapeutic potential.

In fact, like other corticosteroids, also Doxymethasone is able to control the recall of phlogosis elements such as monocytes, macrophages, mast cells and lymphocytes, to inhibit the arachidonic acid cascade, thus controlling the production of prostaglandins and other inflammatory mediators and to facilitate the healing of the skin lesion, exerting a proliferative action on the fibroblasts and inducer for the synthesis of collagen fibers.

The aforementioned therapeutic activities are also supported by good pharmacokinetic properties that greatly limit the incidence of the side effects classically linked to systemic corticosteroid therapy.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

DESOXIMETASONE AND ULTRASOUNDS IN THE TREATMENT OF PSORIASIS

Med Pregl. 2012 Sep-Oct; 65 (9-10): 368-72.

Study that evaluates the association between topical therapy with Doxymetasone and physical therapy with ultrasound in the treatment of psoriasis, demonstrating the excellent effectiveness of this combination with a clear regression of the gravity of lesions.

DESOSSIMETASONE AND TACROLIMUS IN THE TREATMENT OF ATOPIC DERMATITIS

Cutis. 2006 Nov; 78 (5): 357-63.

Clinical trial demonstrating that the combination of deoxymethasone and tacrolimus may be more effective than monotherapy in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.

CROSS REACTIVITY BETWEEN ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Dermatitis. 2006 Sep; 17 (3): 147-51.

Interesting work that brings to light the problem, often underestimated, of cross reactivity between active ingredients, emphasizing in this case the presence of cross reactivity to deoxymethasone in a patient hypersensitive to mometasone.

Method of use and dosage

FLUBASON ®

Doxymethasone 0.25% cutaneous emulsion.

The definition of the dosing schedule must necessarily be defined by the physician based on the patient's health conditions and the severity of his clinical picture.

In principle, the application of the appropriate quantity of medicine on the cutaneous region affected by the inflammatory process for 2-3 times a day is generally sufficient to guarantee a prompt remission of the complained symptomatology.

Warnings FLUBASON ® Desossimetasone

In order to limit the incidence of potential side effects and optimize the therapeutic efficacy of the drug, the patient receiving FLUBASON ® should:

  • clean hands thoroughly after each application;
  • avoid contact of the drug with eyes and mucous membranes;
  • avoid extending the application over large regions;
  • avoid prolonging therapy beyond what is necessary;
  • consult your doctor following the appearance of side effects;
  • keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

The presence in FLUBASON ® of cetostearyl alcohol could determine the appearance of cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The aforementioned contraindications to the use of FLUBASON ® also extend to pregnancy and the subsequent period of breastfeeding, given the potential effects of corticosteroids on the health of the fetus and infant.

Interactions

At the present time, known pharmacological interactions are not known, although it should be remembered that the simultaneous intake of cytochrome inhibitor drugs may increase blood concentrations of the amount of corticosteroid absorbed.

Contraindications FLUBASON ® Doxymethasone

The use of FLUBASON ® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients, in patients suffering from viral, bacterial and fungal infections that are not adequately treated.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The use of FLUBASON ®, especially if continued for a long time, could determine the appearance of local adverse reactions such as redness, edema, scaling and itching.

The side effects worthy of note are rarer.

Note

FLUBASON ® is a prescription-only drug.
