Indications ZYMAFLUOR ® - Fluorine

ZYMAFLUOR ® is indicated for the prevention of tooth decay

Mechanism of action ZYMAFLUOR ® - Fluorine

Fluoride, a negatively charged ion, generally taken in the form of salts such as sodium floride, is effectively absorbed both at the intestinal level, and at the level of the oral and gastric mucosa, and immediately directed towards the tissues being mineralized such as teeth and bones, where it interacts with hydroxyapatite crystals forming denser and more stable structures.

Despite the fact that fluorine is not an essential element for life, its importance is due to the activity of supporting bone tissues and in particular dental ones, for which its preventive role against dental injuries and caries has long been recognized .

Deficiencies of this mineral are in fact evident exclusively through the increased incidence and susceptibility to caries and dental pathologies.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. FLUORO AND DENTAL CARIES

Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2011 Dec 7; 12: CD007592.

Clinical trial demonstrating that fluoride supplementation can reduce the incidence of tooth decay by more than 24% even on permanent teeth.

2. CARDIOTOSIC EFFECTS OF THE FLUORUM

Toxicol Int. 2011 Jul; 18 (2): 99-104.

Experimental study demonstrating the cardiotoxic effects of chronic exposure to fluoride in animal models. The damage can however be recovered or prevented by the concomitant intake of antioxidants.

3. THE MOLECULAR EFFECTS OF THE FLUORUS ON THE CELL ACTIVITY

Biol Trace Elem Res. 2011 Dec; 144 (1-3): 914-23.

Interesting work that seeks to clarify the molecular characteristics of the action of fluorine. More precisely, the ability of this mineral to promote the expression of genes involved in the proliferation and activation of osteoblasts, cells deputed to the synthesis of new bone matrix, was observed.

Method of use and dosage

ZYMAFLUOR ®

Oral drops of 2.52 mg sodium floride (equal to 1.14 mg of fluorine) per ml of solution;

Tablets for oral use from 0.25 mg - 0.5 mg - 0.75 mg - 1 mg of fluorine.

The dose of fluoride to be used varies considerably according to the characteristics of the patient and his lifestyle.

More precisely in the definition of the dosage, it is necessary to consider:

  • The age of the patient;
  • His eating habits;
  • His hygiene habits (use of dental paste or fluoridated mouthwash)

The tablets should be dissolved in the mouth, between cheek and gum, so that the active ingredient is effectively absorbed, possibly before going to bed, because the oral mucosa and teeth can benefit from high concentrations of fluoride for a longer time.

Warnings ZYMAFLUOR ® - Fluorine

Before taking ZYMAFLUOR ® it would be advisable to consult your doctor to evaluate the concentration of fluorine normally taken through food and to set the optimal dosage in an adequate manner.

The patient should undergo periodic checks to evaluate the prophylactic effects of fluoride and the absence of side effects.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

Taking ZYMAFLUOR ® during pregnancy should be supervised by your doctor to avoid the appearance of serious side effects.

Interactions

The simultaneous intake of calcium, magnesium or aluminum supplements or of antacid drugs could determine a significant decrease in the absorption of this trace element.

Therefore we do not recommend taking ZYMAFLUOR ® together with milk and derivatives.

Contraindications ZYMAFLUOR ® - Fluorine

ZYMAFLUOR ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to the relative excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

Taking ZYMAFLUOR ® according to the appropriate medical indications is free of clinically significant side effects.

However, fluoride poisoning, which is observed for concentrations between 5 - 15 mg / kg of fluoride per day, could cause the appearance of nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, rash, excessive tearing, salivation and sweating and asthenia.

Over-prolonged and long-term administration may be responsible for dental and skeletal fluorosis.

Note

ZYMAFLUOR ® is a salable drug without a prescription
