History of Cheesecake

The Cheesecake is a sweet loved and spread all over the planet.

Most people are convinced that this is a preparation originally from New York although, in reality, it has very little to do with the "Big Apple". It has its roots in Samonos (in Greece) where, 4000 years ago (according to the findings), the classical people began to associate the first ingredients with each other. Here, the cheesecake was considered a highly energetic food, good for athletes, and apparently served during the first Olympic games in 776 BC; again for the Greeks, it also played the role of a wedding cake brilliantly. The oldest WRITTEN finding concerning the Greek cheesecake recipe dates back to 230 AD, that is after about 2000 years that the people already consumed this food.

The Cheesecake also became a "libuma" for the Roman conquerors and followed the legions expanding into the provinces of the empire. Only in the eighteenth century, the Cheesecake began to resemble the contemporary widespread America, a place that Europeans reached only after emigration.
