Iron carbonate is an additive used as an acidity regulator, but it is mainly used to enrich foods with iron.
Therefore, due to its function, it can be contained in fortified (vitaminized) foods and pharmaceutical preparations, as well as in other products.

At high concentrations it has a laxative effect.
