Indications TRAVOGEN ® - Isoconazole nitrate

TRAVOGEN ® is indicated in the treatment of superficial dermatomycoses and mycotic vulvovaginal infections even when complicated by bacterial superinfections, sustained by microorganisms sensitive to Isoconazole.

Mechanism of action TRAVOGEN ® - Isoconazole nitrate

Isoconazole, the active ingredient of TRAVOGEN ®, is an imidazole derivative widely used in clinical settings for the broad spectrum of direct action not only against dermatophytes, fungi and yeasts but also towards Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms.

Its therapeutic efficacy is due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme 14 alpha methyl lanosterol demethylase involved in the synthesis of an important membrane element known as Ergosterol.

The absence of this element, which is important in structuring the plasma membrane by regulating the exchanges with the outside, and the accumulation of catabolites toxic to the micro-organism, significantly compromise the viability of the pathogen, determining its death in a few days of treatment.

The aforementioned biological activities are also aided by good pharmacokinetic properties which, by limiting the systemic absorption of the drug, following topical use, significantly reduce the risk of clinically relevant side effects.
