FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® is a drug based on thiamphenicol glycinate acetylcysteine
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: Antimicrobials - antibiotics for systemic use
IndicationsAction mechanismStudies and clinical effectiveness Usage and dosage instructionsWarnings Pregnancy and lactationInteractionsContraindicationsUndesirable effectsDirections FLUIMUCIL (Ant.top) ® - Thiamphenicol
FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® is indicated in the treatment of respiratory tract infections sustained by germs sensitive to the Amfenicoli and in particular to thiamphenicol, even when complicated by the presence of mucostasis.
Mechanism of action FLUIMUCIL (Ant.top) ® - Thiamphenicol
FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® combines the complementary therapeutic action of two active ingredients useful in improving the clinical course of respiratory tract infections.
More precisely :
- Thiamphenicol, is an antibiotic belonging to the category of Amfenicoli, semisynthetic derivative of Chloramphenicol, endowed with an intense bacteriostatic activity guaranteed by the ability to bind the 50S ribosomal subunit, thus inhibiting the peptidyl transferase activity responsible for the lengthening of the peptide chain. This inhibition obviously takes the form of a halt in the protein synthesis processes that seriously compromise the vitality of the microorganism.
- Acetyl cysteine, present in FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® as a derivative of thiamphenicol, is a powerful mucolytic capable of reducing the disulfide bridges of the mucoproteins by disorganizing the protein structure of the mucus and significantly improving the quality of life of the affected patient.
The broad-spectrum antibiotic activity of thiamphenicol, extended as well as to the Gram-positive and negative also to Rickettsias, Mycoplasmas and Chlamydias, significantly affects the clinical efficacy of the antibiotic despite the emerging mechanisms of bacterial resistance, which prevent the drug from reaching concentrations therapeutically active within the bacterial cytosol.
Studies carried out and clinical efficacy
TIAMFENICOLO AND GENITAL INFECTIONS
Work that demonstrates the efficacy of thiamphenicol in determining a prompt regression of the symptoms associated with genital tract infections, such as venereal ulcers, but with less encouraging results in HIV-infected patients.
TIAMFENICOLO AND RINOFARINGE INFECTIONS
Study demonstrating that aerosol treatment with thiamphenicol and acetylcysteine may be effective, safe, economical and simple to use in nasopharyngeal infections of children.
EFFECTIVENESS AND SAFETY OF TIAMFENICOLO TREATMENT
Clinical trial conducted on over 100 patients demonstrating that topical or systemic treatment with thiamphenicol and acetylcysteine may be effective and safe in the course of upper respiratory tract infections, manifesting only in rare cases significant adverse reactions.
Method of use and dosage
FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ®
Solvent vials + vials of 250 - 500 mg of thiamphenicol glycinate acetylcysteine.
FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® can be administered, depending on clinical needs, both intramuscularly and topically.
For topical use it is possible to take advantage of the aerosol or endo-tracheal route always under strict medical supervision, while the systemic use involves the use of intramuscular administration.
The doses and the dosage schedule must be defined by the doctor based on the clinical picture and the patient's physiopathological conditions.
Warnings FLUIMUCIL (Ant.top) ® - Thiamphenicol
Being an antibiotic the use of FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® must necessarily be defined by your doctor in doses and times, in order to optimize therapeutic efficacy, limiting the occurrence of side effects as much as possible.
Particular caution should be reserved for patients suffering from renal and hepatic diseases, given the potential documented pharmacokinetic alterations, and in pediatric patients given the predisposition to the accumulation of potentially toxic catabolites.
It is recommended to keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
The use of FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® is generally contraindicated during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of breastfeeding given the ability of the antibiotic to pass the placental barrier and the breast filter, exposing itself to the fetus and the infant in pharmacologically concentrations active.
Interactions
At the moment active ingredients capable of altering the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of thiamphenicol are not known.
Despite this it would be advisable to avoid the simultaneous administration of active ingredients with myodontic, nephrotoxic and hepatotoxic potential.
Contraindications FLUIMUCIL (Ant.top) ® - Thiamphenicol
The use of FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients as well as to patients with a history of bone marrow failure.
Undesirable effects - Side effects
The use of thiamphenicol, above all systemically, could determine the appearance of gastro-enteric manifestations such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, changes in the hematological picture with anemia, thrombocytopenia and leukopenia, hypersensitivity reactions with fever, rash and anaphylactic phenomena in the more serious cases.
Note
FLUIMUCIL (ant.top) ® is a drug subject to mandatory medical prescription.
