Hyperhidrosis - Causes and Symptoms

Related articles: Hyperhidrosis

Definition

Hyperhidrosis indicates excessive sweating, which may be limited to certain regions of the body or generalized. This event recognizes multiple causes.

Hyperhidrosis of the armpits, forehead, palms of the hands and soles of the feet is in most cases due to emotional causes (stress). The hyperhidrosis spread to most of the body, on the other hand, can be idiopathic (without a known cause) or due to the presence of diseases of the central or peripheral nervous system, cancer (eg lymphoma or leukemia), infections (eg tuberculosis or systemic mycoses ) and endocrine diseases (such as hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia and acromegaly), obesity and menopause.

Compared to sweating, patients with hyperhidrosis sweat very hard and in conditions that, in most people, do not trigger the production of sweat. Garments can even get soaked, while the skin of the palms and soles of the feet may appear pale and have macerations or fissures.
