Indications LACRILUBE ® Liquid paraffin + white Vaseline

LACRILUBE ® is indicated in the rehydration and protection of the eye in the presence of dry eye conditions.

Mode of action LACRILUBE ® Liquid paraffin + white Vaseline

The protective, rehydrating and emollient properties of LACRILUBE ® are linked to the presence of Vaseline and paraffin, hydrocarbon compounds characterized by a classic oily and gelatinous consistency which determines the consequent clinical applications.

More precisely :

  • Vaseline is a material made up of long-chain saturated hydrocarbons which, depending on the type of preparation, can take on a classic oily, jelly-like consistency of a whitish color generally such as to form an oily patina on the surface on which it is used;
  • liquid paraffin is a highly refined mixture of hydrocarbons, therefore characterized by a very high degree of purity, which in such mineral oil is able to create a thin lipid film able to avoid the loss of liquids, keeping the layer of high hydration of the treated region.

Used as an ophthalmic ointment, they can cause the formation of an oily film on the surface of the stratum corneum, protecting the ocular mucosa from external aggressors and preserving at the same time the state of hydration of the same.
