Indications COLBIOCIN ® Chloramphenicol, Colistimethate and Tetracycline

COLBIOCIN ®, given the typical antibiotic structure, is indicated in the treatment of external eye infections.

Mechanism of action COLBIOCIN ® Chloramphenicol, Colistimethate and Tetracycline

COLBIOCIN ® is a medicinal product based on antimicrobials with different antibiotic properties that significantly expand the pattern of microbial species sensitive to this treatment.

In fact, chloramphenicol is a bacteriostatic antibiotic, capable of inhibiting the proliferation of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, blocking the 50S ribosomal subunit and therefore interrupting all protein synthesis processes; Rolitetracilcina as well as Tetracycline are endowed with a broader spectrum of action also with regard to chlamydia, mycoplasmas, rickettsias and amoebas, also in this case supported by the ability to inhibit bacterial synthesis by blocking the 30 S ribosomal subunit; Colistin, on the other hand, particularly active against Gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas and Haemophilus owes its biological efficacy to the ability to easily penetrate cell membranes, thus exerting an evident cleaning effect.

It is therefore evident the important synergy that is realized between the various active ingredients, adequately extending the effectiveness of action to different pathogenic species.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

THE COBIOCIN IN THE POST-OPERATIVE PHASES

Vestn Oftalmol. 1999 Nov-Dec; 115 (6): 38-40.

Work that demonstrates how the use of COLBIOCIN in the post-operative phases of keratectomy can significantly reduce hospitalization time, guaranteeing effective pain control and limiting the overlap of bacterial infections.

THE COLBIOCIN IN THE TREATMENT OF THE CHRONIC PURULENTA MESOTIMPANITE

Vestn Otorinolaringol. 1999; (2): 49-50.

Interesting Russian work that tests Colbiocin in the treatment of chronic purulent mesotympanitis, demonstrating its excellent tolerability and clinical efficacy.

COLBIOCIN IN THE JOINTS OF CLAMIDIA

Vestn Oftalmol. 1998 Mar-Apr; 114 (2): 32-4.

Study demonstrating the efficacy of Colbiocin in the treatment of chlamydial conjunctivitis in 325 patients, underlining its excellent tolerability, given the absence of serious adverse reactions.
