Preventing onychomycosis is possible through some essential rules:
- Nails should always be kept short, clean and dry .
- To try to keep your feet dry, use cotton socks and change them daily; instead, those of nylon and synthetic should be avoided, which do not allow feet to breathe.
- Avoid trauma and contact with irritating substances; the nails, then, should never be torn, but cut carefully.
- Shoes should not be narrow and occlusive; avoid high heels and uncomfortable shoes.
- When you go to swimming pools, changing rooms and public toilets, always use slippers (or other protections).
- Carefully monitor the appearance of infections and treat as soon as possible .
