Indications FLECTOR ® Diclofenac

FLECTOR ® is indicated in the symptomatological treatment of inflammatory and painful conditions of joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments both of rheumatic and post-traumatic origin.

Mechanism of action FLECTOR ® Diclofenac

FLECTOR ®, a medicine based on diclofenac, is characterized by the particular delivery system of the active ingredient that allows, thanks to the formulation in medical plasters, a gradual and constant release of the drug in the first 10 hours after application.

In this way FLECTOR ® allows a more lasting control of the inflammatory process, avoiding at the same time the onset of all those side effects associated with oral therapy, which limit the frequent use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

From a pharmacodynamic point of view, diclofenac acts like all other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, responsible for the transformation of arachidonic acid into molecules with marked pro-inflammatory activity known as prostaglandins.

The aforementioned biological action results macroscopically in a reduction of painful symptoms, in a reduction of the hyperemia present at the level of the damaged tissue and in an anti-edematous action.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. EFFECTIVENESS AND SAFETY OF DICLOFENAC PATCHES IN DISTORTION TREATMENT

Int J Sports Med. 2011 Aug; 32 (8): 635-43. Epub 2011 May 11.

Analgesic efficacy and safety of the diclofenac epolamine topical patch 1.3% (DETP) in minor soft tissue injury.

Kuehl K, Carr W, Yanchick J, Magelli M, Rovati S.

A study that demonstrates how the application of medical plasters based on diclofenac can significantly reduce the pain associated with minor injuries such as sprains or bruises in just 7 days.

About 80% of treated patients have in fact benefited from important benefits without clinically relevant side effects.

2. DICLOFENAC IN CEROTTI IN DENTAL PRACTICE

Contemp Clin Dent. 2010 Jul; 1 (3): 158-63.

Work that demonstrates how the use of transdermal plasters based on diclofenac can represent an important analgesic tool even in dental care and more precisely in dental extractions, reducing the sensation of pain in the face of limited side effects.

3. THE PHARMACOKINETIC CHARACTERISTICS OF FLECTOR

Clin Drug Investig. 2009; 29 (1): 1-9.

Pharmacokinetic study that demonstrates how the great efficacy of FLECTOR ® passes through the accumulation of diclofenac at the site of application, concentrating its therapeutic effect in place.

The same study did not show any type of systemic side effect related to the administration of diclofenac.

Method of use and dosage

FLECTOR ®

180 mg medical patch of diclofenac hydroxyethylpyrrolidine (equivalent to 140 mg of diclofenac sodium).

It is recommended to apply a patch twice a day, morning and evening, on the cutaneous region to which the musculoskeletal or joint pain refers.

The treatment should be continued for no more than 7 to 10 days.

Warnings FLECTOR ® Diclofenac

The application of FLECTOR ® should be performed on intact and uninjured skin, taking care to avoid direct contact between the patch and continuity or mucous membranes.

The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in atopic patients or those predisposed to developing allergies is not recommended or should in any case be carried out under strict medical supervision.

FLECTOR ® contains parahydroxybenzoate, an active ingredient with a strong allergenic power and responsible for predominantly allergic skin reactions.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

We do not recommend the use of FLECTOR ® during pregnancy, note the side effects of diclofenac on the fetus and on the mother during the period of labor and during birth.

Interactions

Topical absorption of diclofenac significantly reduces the risk of possible interactions with other active ingredients, making FLECTOR ® therapy safe and effective.

However, it is recommended to avoid topical application of other anti-inflammatory drugs, both non-steroidal and corticosteroids, in order to avoid the appearance of dermatological pathologies and reactions.

Contraindications FLECTOR ® Diclofenac

The intake of FLECTOR ® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients, as well as to salicylates and any other type of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The use of FLECTOR ® seems to be as safe and free from particular side effects.

The topical application of diclofenac significantly reduces all systemic side effects associated with the administration of the drug per se, although in rare cases there have been side effects such as eczema, rash, erythema and photosensitivity, limited to the skin region on which it was applied the medical patch.

Note

FLECTOR ® is salable without medical prescription.
