Indications MICONAL ® - Miconazole

MICONAL ® is indicated in the treatment of dermatomycoses sustained by dermatophytes, yeasts and fungi sensitive to miconazole and in the treatment of vaginal or vulvo-vaginal fungal infections.

Mechanism of action MICONAL ® - Miconazole

MICONAL ® is a medicinal product based on Miconazole, an active ingredient belonging to the family of imidazole derivatives and therefore has a marked fungistatic, fungicidal and bactericidal activity against Gram positive organisms.

The aforementioned therapeutic activities are due to the biological role of Miconazole, effective in inhibiting a series of enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of Ergosterol, a key element of the fungal plasma membrane important in preserving its functional and structural characteristics.

The impairment of the physiological membrane activity, three of which is that of the barrier, and the accumulation of catabolites endowed with marked oxidizing activities reduce the vital capacity of the micro-organism, causing its death in a short time.

The low systemic absorption, which derives from the topical use of this drug, makes the use of MICONAL ® even easier and safer.

Warnings MICONAL ® - Miconazole

Although therapy with MICONAL ® is generally safe, it should be preceded by a thorough medical examination to clarify the infectious origin of the lesion and its symptomatology and the consequent prescription appropriateness.

It would also be advisable for the patient to comply with all the sanitary regulations of the case, in order to reduce the potential side effects of the therapy, while maximizing its therapeutic efficacy.

As with any other topical drug, it should be remembered that prolonged use of MICONAL ® could cause the onset of sensitization reactions, such as to require the suspension of the therapy in progress.

It is advisable to keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The absence of clinical trials able to fully characterize the safety profile of Miconazole for fetal health generally extend the contraindications to the use of MICONAL ® also to pregnancy and the subsequent period of breastfeeding.

If the use of this drug is strictly effective, medical supervision would be necessary.
