Indications MOMENT ® Ibuprofen

MOMENT ® is used in the treatment of painful phlogistic conditions of various nature, such as menstrual, osteo-articular, dental, neuralgia and headache disorders.

The analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory action of ibuprofen can be useful, as an adjuvant, in the treatment of fever and flu.

Mechanism of action MOMENT ® Ibuprofen

MOMENT ® is an anti-inflammatory based on ibuprofen, a molecule obtained synthetically, chemically and structurally similar to propionic acid and founder of a class known as phenylproprionic derivatives.

The numerous clinical applications reserved for ibuprofen are justified by the particular therapeutic efficacy that this molecule presents, proved to be useful not only in reducing the inflammatory insult and its consequences, but also in mediating an analgesic and antipyretic action, which is precious for the preservation of the state of patient health.

From the molecular point of view all the aforementioned activities are carried out through inhibition of the enzymatic pathway fed by cyclooxygenases which leads to the production of molecules with pro-inflammatory activity, known as prostaglandins, obtained from a membrane phospholipid such as acid arachidonic.

The inhibition of cyclooxygenases induced by ibuprofen inevitably shifts the balance towards the synthesis of lipoxins, chemical mediators characterized by a strong anti-inflammatory action, reducing the recall and adhesion of inflammatory cells.

This molecular rebalancing reduces the inflammatory insult present in the damaged tissue, restoring an equilibrium condition, and at the same time reducing the tissue signs of inflammation.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. IBUPROFENE OTC AND GASTROINTESTINAL HEMORRHAGES

Curr Med Res Opin. 2012 Jan; 28 (1): 89-99. Epub 2011 Nov 28.

Work that shows how, although many ibuprofen-based medicines are sold without a prescription, ibuprofen intake has a low risk of gastro-intestinal bleeding and serious side effects.

2. IBUPROFENE AND BONE REASSOREMENT

Iran J Immunol. 2011 Sep; 8 (3): 176-82.

Bone resorption is one of the main features of periapical inflammatory lesions sustained by numerous inflammatory cytokines such as Il-1, TNF alpha and prostaglandins. In this case, therefore, taking ibuprofen can significantly improve the course of the disease by inhibiting resorption and subsequent erosions.

3. IBUPROFENE AND REFLEXOLOGY IN THE TREATMENT OF DISMENORREA

Iran J Nurs Midwifery Res. 2010 Dec; 15 (Suppl 1): 371-8.

Work against the current that demonstrates how reflexology can guarantee better results than the administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the treatment of dysmenorrhea, significantly reducing the side effects associated with taking these drugs.

Method of use and dosage

MOMENT ®

Soft 200 mg ibuprofen capsules;

Tablets coated with 200 mg of ibuprofen;

Granules for oral solution of 200 mg of ibuprofen;

Although the therapeutic range is very wide and foresees the use of maximum doses of 1200 mg of ibuprofen daily, the intake of 400 - 600 mg daily, divided into several administrations, proves to be effective and free of particular side effects in most of the cases.

An adjustment of the doses used is required in patients with liver disease, renal insufficiency or in elderly patients.

Warnings MOMENT ® Ibuprofen

The intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, hence of ibuprofen, is to be understood as a short-lasting anti-inflammatory and analgesic therapy, necessary for overcoming an acute condition.

The administration of this medicine for a long time could in fact facilitate the appearance of gastrointestinal diseases, and liver, kidney and cardiovascular disorders.

Patients suffering from liver, kidney, cardiovascular or gastro-intestinal diseases should consult their physician before taking MOMENT ®, which in turn should evaluate the cost / benefit ratio and plan periodic checks necessary to assess the status of kidney and liver function.

An adjustment of the dosage normally used is necessary for elderly patients or those suffering from renal insufficiency, given the risk of a potential accumulation of ibuprofen.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The use of MOMENT ® is not recommended during pregnancy and in the subsequent phase of breastfeeding, given the ability of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to massively reduce the production of inflammatory prostaglandins, thus exerting a potential toxic and teratogenic role towards the fetus and infant .

In fact, elevated systemic levels of ibuprofen have been associated with premature abortions and fetal malformations.

Interactions

Different works in the literature demonstrate the ability of various active ingredients to interact with ibuprofen, altering both its therapeutic efficacy and its potential danger.

Particular attention should be paid to the concomitant intake of ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II antagonists able to increase the side effects on the kidney, analgesics, antibiotics and methotrexate, responsible for side effects associated with cytotoxicity, oral anticoagulants and antidepressants reuptake inhibitors of serotonin, whose administration could lead to an increase in bleeding events.

Also remember to avoid the simultaneous intake of corticosteroids and other NSAIDs, in order to avoid the appearance of potentially dangerous side effects.

Contraindications MOMENT ® Ibuprofen

Intake of MOMENT ® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active substance or to one of its excipients, hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid and other analgesics, suffering from asthma, nasal polyposis, liver failure, renal to cardiac, intestinal bleeding, ulcerative colitis or previous history for the same diseases.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

Despite the use of MOMENT ®, when carried out according to the appropriate medical indications, it is generally well tolerated and devoid of particular side effects, it is opportune to recall some of the adverse reactions described in the literature, following the abuse of ibuprofen.

Gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gastritis and peptic ulcers, dermatological disorders characterized by rash, urticaria and dermatitis, alterations in renal, hepatic and cardiovascular function, certainly represent the most serious, and therefore clinically noteworthy, adverse reactions that occur may indicate following abuse or prolonged use of ibuprofen.

Note

MOMENT ® can be sold without medical prescription.
