E132 - INDIGOTINE (or CARMINIO D'INDACO - CI 73015)

Indigotine is a synthetic, blue colored dye used in candies, syrups, candied fruit, biscuits and sweets. It is considered to be slightly toxic and may be carcinogenic, although there are not enough studies to define it as such. In case of allergies, indigotine can be responsible for nausea, vomiting, hives, high blood pressure and respiratory problems. In general, its effects on human health are not yet fully known.

Sometimes it can be used in cosmetics.

ADI DOSE: 5mg per kg of body weight.
