Proper nutrition

Proper nutrition against diseases

Through proper nutrition you can help your body keep fit: for the prevention of chronic pathological disorders, such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity, a healthy and balanced diet is undoubtedly essential.

The crucial objective of the modern consumer is not, however, only that of eating properly in order to prevent diseases: man should always ensure the body a balanced diet based on wellness, both psychological and physical.

In fact, a correct diet can be helpful in preventing pathological disorders, but it is absolutely necessary to counteract the effects of aging, to fight free radicals, strengthen the immune system [...]; in a word: correct nutrition is synonymous with protection and maintenance of health.

Food and health

Nutrition professor Michael T. Murray, of the John Bastyr College of Seattle (USA) writes " the most recent scientific research has provided irrefutable evidence on the relationship between food and health. If some foods can cause disease, there are many that can prevent, and in many cases cure, a large number of disorders from an early age. "

Recently the importance of regularly taking some useful foods to avoid many ailments and protect the organism has been demonstrated: this belief, which has now become a foundation, was not considered so until a few years ago. In fact, conventional medicine used only synthetic drugs and was often skeptical of food and its properties, given the lack of evidence of effectiveness on a large scale. It is good to remember, however, that while proving in many cases a valid aid to prevent disorders and alleviate symptoms, nutrition, however correct, cannot be substituted for medical treatment.

Empty calories

Until a few decades ago, a large part of the calories came from whole grains; today, with the prevalence of refined products and vegetable oils, simple and fat sugars often represent the major nutrients. A diet of this type, however, only provides the body with "empty calories", so called to understand the scarcity of micronutrients (vitamins, mineral salts, phytochemicals etc.) present in these food sources. In such a context, assuming a consistent quantity of food is not synonymous with quality of food, because in any case there is the risk of not bringing the nutrients necessary for the proper maintenance of the state of health.

In the context of a correct diet, foods must be taken with the awareness of their qualities, in order to exploit their nutritional properties.

Antioxidants for proper nutrition

If other factors such as pollution, smoke, radiation and stress are added to an unregulated diet, the body's functioning is further compromised, so it is more exposed to aging processes, deteriorating and rusting. All this should not scare us, because counteracting these effects is possible: nature has a significant amount of antioxidant foods, foods rich in vitamins and minerals, beneficial nutrients for the body. Foods such as garlic, carrot, onion, citrus fruits, blueberry, peanuts, fish, soy, green tea, yogurt and green vegetables in general must be the basis of a healthy diet.
