Definition

The pus emission from the penis is a symptom generally associated with the presence of infections affecting the genital tract or urinary tract.

This manifestation can be found, in particular, in the case of gonorrhea, urethritis and balanoposthitis due to chlamydia and candidiasis, mycoplasma or ureaplasma and trichomoniasis infections. In some cases, pus emission from the penis may indicate the presence of cystitis and prostatitis.

The losses can appear of different consistencies, of serous or mucopurulent appearance and of white-yellowish, yellow-greenish or milky color.

The emission of purulent secretions from the penis can be accompanied by other symptoms, such as burning and pain during and after urination, pollakiuria (exaggerated increase in the frequency of urination), nocturia (frequent nocturnal urination) and, sometimes, testicular swelling.

The pus emission from the penis and the associated symptoms can be mild, but more pronounced in the early hours of the morning; therefore, the urethral meatus is often reddened and dulled by dry secretions, which can often stain the laundry.
