Indications DROPSTAR ® Hyaluronic acid

DROPSTAR ® is indicated for the treatment of dry eyes or lacrimal insufficiency as a lubricant and humectant.

Mechanism of action DROPSTAR ® Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid, active ingredient of DROPSTAR ®, is a glycosaminoglycan, a structurally very complex molecule with particular chemical-physical properties that obviously also influence its functional characteristics.

Given the ability to be complex with numerous water molecules, it is able to confer a certain turgidity to the tissue to which it belongs, thus fulfilling a very important structural role that is effective both in maintaining the physical properties of the tissue and in the nutritional ones.

In fact, it is important to remember that the maintenance of a correct molecular structure can optimize nutritional exchanges between the various cells, improving at the same time the trophic characteristics of the tissue and its quality.

Recent studies have also observed how the use of ophthalmic hyaluronic acid can facilitate the healing of corneal wounds, recalling corneal cells and improving proliferative capacities.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

HYALURONIC ACID IN CONTACT LENSES

Eye Contact Lens. 2013 Mar; 39 (2): 179-85. doi: 10.1097 / ICL.0b013e318281ae06.

Interesting study that evaluates the possibility of incorporating hyaluronic acid in contact lenses, thus maintaining the state of ocular hydration for longer and avoiding unpleasant problems such as dry eyes.

HYALURONIC ACID IN PROTECTION FROM CORNEAL DAMAGE

Electrophoresis. 2013 Feb; 34 (3): 388-96. doi: 10.1002 / elps.201200342. Epub 2013 Jan 6.

Experimental study conducted on in vitro cells of human cornea that demonstrates how treatment with hyaluronic acid can optimize recovery from possible corneal lesions, promoting corneal cell migration more quickly and effectively.

HYALURONIC ACID AND PROLIFERATION OF RETINAL CELUELS

Tissue Eng Part A. 2013 Jan; 19 (1-2): 135-42. doi: 10.1089 / ten.TEA.2012.0209. Epub 2012 Oct 12.

Recent work that demonstrates how hyaluronic acid, thanks to its particular chemical-physical properties, can create the ideal micro-environment for retinal cells, thus improving their proliferative capacities.

Method of use and dosage

DROPSTAR ®

Eye drops of 0.4 g of hyaluronic acid sodium salt per 100 ml of product.

Generally it is suggested to instill a drop in the conjunctival sac 3 times per di, always according to medical prescription.
