Directions TRIMONASE ® Tinidazole

TRIMONASE ® is particularly indicated in the treatment of urogenital infections supported by Trichomonas Vaginalis in both sexes.

Mechanism of action TRIMONASE ® Tinidazole

TRIMONASE ® is a drug widely used in the clinical field in the treatment of genital infections sustained by protozoa such as Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolitica and Lamblia intestinalis, particularly widespread among the world population.

The therapeutic activity of Tinidazole is concentrated at the level of the genitourinary tract, thanks to its particular pharmacokinetic properties, which, following intestinal absorption and plasma biodistribution, reaches in a clinically relevant quantity the urinary and gynecological environment.

The antiparasitic activity of the active principle takes place inside the pathogenic micro-organism, where, thanks to the high reductive potential, the Tinidazole, through a series of enzymatic reactions, is transformed into the reduced active principle endowed with marked parasitic activity.

The latter is carried out through the binding of Tinidazole reduced to bimolecules as DNA, proteins and lipids, causing functional and structural damage that is completely incompatible with the life of the microorganism.

Once the biological activity is over, the active form of the active ingredient is eliminated through the urine.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

TINIDAZOLE IN THE TREATMENT OF METRONIDAZOLE-RESISTANT VAGINAL INFECTIONS

Expert Opin Investig Drugs. 2007 May; 16 (5): 743-51.

Interesting study that demonstrates the effectiveness of Tinidazole in treating cases of vaginal trichomoniasis, in patients normally resistant to metronidazole, and therefore characterized by persistent symptoms.

THERAPEUTIC SYSTEMS BASED ON TINIDAZOLE FOR BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS

Obstet Gynecol. 2007 Aug; 110 (2 Pt 1): 302-9.

Clinical trial examining the clinical efficacy of two different therapeutic protocols useful for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. Contrary to expectations, the milder therapeutic regimen, characterized by the administration of 1 g of Tinidazole per day, was decidedly more effective than that at higher dosage.

TINIDAZOLE vs METRONIDAZOLE

Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2011 Mar; 204 (3): 211.e1-6.

Work that demonstrates the same efficacy as Tinidazole compared to Metronidazole in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis in the face of similar side effects. The advantage derived from the use of Tinidazole, could be related to the low degree of circulating resistance among the various pathogenic elements.

Method of use and dosage

TRIMONASE ®

Tabidazole 500 mg oral tablets.

The dosages and timing of intake of TRIMONASE ®, in any case limited to only a few days, must necessarily be defined by the doctor on the basis of the physiopathological characteristics of the patient, the severity of his / her clinical picture and the type of parasite responsible of the pathology.

Warnings TRIMONASE ® Tinidazole

The use of TRIMONASE ®, although it is safe and has no clinically relevant side effects, should in any case be supervised by your doctor, in order to limit the development of potential side effects and maximize therapeutic efficacy.

Simultaneously with drug therapy it is necessary to avoid all risky behaviors, potentially responsible for the transmission of the pathogen, extending them even to the partner in order to avoid the ping-pong phenomenon.

It is advisable to keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The ability of the active principle to easily permeate the hematoplacental barrier and the mammary filter, so as to expose itself to the fetus and to the infant in pharmacologically active concentrations, inevitably extends the contraindications to the use of TRIMONASE ® also to the pregnancy and the subsequent period of breastfeeding .

Interactions

Although pharmacokinetic studies do not reveal clinically relevant drug interactions, during Tinidazole therapy it would be preferable to avoid the simultaneous intake of alcohol or chemically and structurally related active ingredients due to the potential side effects of both the gastro-intestinal tract and the nervous.

Contraindications TRIMONASE ® Tinidazole

The use of TRIMONASE ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients, in patients with a history of hematological or nervous disorders and during pregnancy and lactation.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

Treatment with TRIMONASE ®, although generally safe, is sometimes responsible for adverse reactions such as headache, nausea, hives, cystitis, diarrhea and vomiting.

However, those with the greatest clinical concern are neurological adverse reactions characterized by headache, convulsions, paresthesia and mental confusion.

Adverse reactions from hypersensitivity to the drug are decidedly more rare.

Note

TRIMONASE ® is a prescription-only drug.
