E343 MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE or MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE
Magnesium phosphate is the magnesium salt of phosphoric acid; it is a widely used acidifying product, also in conjunction with other additives, but little mentioned in the various texts.
Magnesium phosphate is used as an emulsifier, as an adjuvant for antioxidant compounds and as an "anti-clot".
It is also used as a magnesium salt in functional foods and as a food supplement.
It can be contained in some bakery products and food supplements.
To prevent a calcium deficiency, its use is limited (even if the ADI dose is high) as it avidly binds calcium.
ADI DOSE: 70 mg per kg of body weight.
It is subdivided into the various magnesium salts of phosphoric acid:
- E343a MAGNESIUM MONO-ORTOFOSPHATE
- E343b DI-ORTOFOSPHATE OF MAGNESIUM
- E343c TRI-MAGNESIUM ORTOFOSPHATE
