Indications IRUXOL ® Collagenasi + Chloramphenicol

IRUXOL ® is indicated for cleansing and subsequent healing of sores and lesions of ulcerative, necrotic, post-operative or traumatic origin.

Mechanism of action IRUXOL ® Collagenasi + Chloramphenicol

IRUXOL ®, combining two different active ingredients, performs a healing and antiseptic action, important in promoting healthy wound healing, while limiting the risk of overlapping bacterial infections.

The aforementioned activities are obviously related to its active ingredients and in particular:

  • to the collagenase, proteolytic enzyme able to degrade the collagen fibers, the ability to remove the necrotic material is attributed, thus facilitating the better diffusion of the antibiotic in the context of the lesion, stimulating at the same time the synthesis of new fibers useful for healing;
  • Chloramphenicol instead is linked to antibiotic activity, which is performed through inhibition of protein synthesis, mediated by binding of the same to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thus controlling the possible proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms.

Topical use allows to optimize the therapeutic activity on site, reducing the side effects generally related to the systemic use of the aforementioned active ingredients.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

IRUXOL IN THE RECONSTRUCTION OF SCROTAL INJURIES

Clin Ter. 2012; 163 (5): e315-8.

Interesting case report that demonstrates how the application of IRUXOL ® combined with minimally invasive surgical techniques can guarantee a good resolution of the scrotal lesions present in particular forms of Gangrena.

NEW METHODS FOR TESTING TOXICITY OF OIL AND POMATE

Eur J Med Res. 2010 May 18; 15 (5): 204-9.

Work that evaluates the potential toxicity of the various preparations for the healing of ulcers and burns, observing the potential vascular damage induced by them on the chorioallantoic membrane of the eggs. This evidence could anticipate potential drug-induced lesions on the skin surface.

EFFECTIVENESS AND SECURITY OF IRUXOL

Clin Drug Investig. 1998; 15 (5): 381-7.

Clinical trial conducted on approximately 30 patients suffering from chronic ulceration of the extremities which demonstrates how the treatment for 14 days with IRUXOL can determine a better healing of the wounds themselves with side effects comparable to those induced by placebo.

Method of use and dosage

IRUXOL ®

Topical ointment consisting of 60 IU of Collagenase and 1 g of chloramphenicol per 100 g of product.

The therapeutic activity of IRUXOL ® is supported by the application of the correct amount of ointment on the surface of the lesion affected by the necrotic process for one or two times a day depending on the clinical needs.

Before application renewal it would be useful to remove the necrotic material present and further cleanse the wound.

Warnings IRUXOL ® Collagenasi + Chloramphenicol

The use of IRUXOL ® should be preceded by a careful medical check to clarify the origin of the lesion and the correct indication of the therapeutic path to be addressed.

The presence of chloramphenicol and topical use of the product limits the use of the medicine only for short periods of time in order to avoid the appearance of allergic reactions and antibiotic-resistance by potential pathogenic germs.

It is recommended to store the drug in a cool, dry place and out of reach of children.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The use of IRUXOL ® during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of breastfeeding should be carried out exclusively in cases of real need and always under the strict supervision of your doctor.

Interactions

It is recommended to avoid contextual use of other drugs topically

Contraindications IRUXOL ® Collagenasi + Chloramphenicol

The use of IRUXOL ® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The use of IRUXOL ®, especially when continued for a long time, could determine the appearance of local adverse reactions such as burning and irritation.

The systemic side effects related to the absorption of chloramphenicol are decidedly more rare.

Note

IRUXOL ® is a prescription-only drug.
